When you say image manipulation, what are you using? RIght now, I'm trying to measure the width of every line, and quite frankly I know there has to be a better way
Personnaly, I've used Powerpoint for cropping, resizing, and making it black and white. Then I used the windows screen filter (accessibility options) to interchange the black and white to see if it worked. But my phone didn't want to scan the whole barcode...
@greyHarpist I've reworked the problem successfully using **** (okay, that counts as a swear word, so "GNU Image Manipulation Program") just now, but not for measuring.
Any tool that will let you slap a configurable grid over the image will help you with counting though. But the image is accurate enough to just "eyeball" it.
For those that suck at image manipulation (like myself) there is a way to solve this manually without any app...wikipedia has always been one of my best friends ;)
I've got the code scanned correctly for hours (actually I decoded half of it by hand during a presentation), and I also got the word. I know what it means, it fits. I see some combinations and synonyms but from now on it's guesswork and I will run into the rate limit sooner or later. I'm so close.
I can see that it is a bar code but what programs are yall using to determine what each of the bar codes stands for? I have messed with the contrast on the image flipped it and am gettiing nothing. Sorry Im a noob to this.
Comments
I believe at least 3 people have correctly solved it so far. I am sadly not one of them though :D
I've lost what way I've flipped and inverted and still no success. First time trying to decode
This is a first for me, but is a badge associated with the challenge? Noon question.
Ditto. I keep trying to add the alarm clock time to the front or back but get nothing.
Someone stated above the end result is all lowercase letters.
Not sure why you would rotate then flip, instead of just rotating the other direction.
So, is this a *hint*? About the end result being lowercase letters only?
It looks kind of like Plessey Code. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

I think the Alarm Clock is 0702 this is the DIN for Elektronik Codes in Faktoris and this is Scanner Code 128 or Code 39.

I've had the lowercase letters for ages. Only just figured out what to do with them - it was slightly evil.
Edit: it probably woulda helped if I'd known what the word meant!
Could overlaying the two barcodes on each other possibly result in it working?
actually, no manipulations are needed. just count to 4

the barcode scanner on my phone is being inconsistent and getting some different results.. ergh..

Herr some diverent Fotos to Scan.
I don't understand a thing about what we are meant to do,... :O
I cannot for the life of me count up those dang bars correctly
Kinda nice, and I learned a lot about barcodes, I guess. Thanks for the challenge!

It became clearer to me after I went thru and read all the comments and responses.
Same here! Now I understand but cannot count the bars at all (being dyslexical isn't helping ^^)
Hey I am feeding data to a friend, they got it... I’m driving right now so horrible signal, yes it’s a barcode
You can also decode via numbers as well... just a lot harder
12 lowercase letters?

For a non native english speaker the keyword was kinda hard to find, even if you starred at the decoded letters for some time :-)
I still do not discover the word, this to deal with the google translator to understand what they say is not helping me
