I could possibly see preventing links to third party sites, but preventing folk from linking *within* the community makes it really hard to direct folks to useful content. This means we'd be likely to have duplicate conversations and no way to merge them to one source of the truth.
Also, since there's some weird bug that sees links in content where there are no links, sometimes I can't post at all, or edit posts that got truncated. I'd point you to the discussion in question but .... I can't link. *shrug*
Agreed. Quoting is absolutely basic functionality on any sort of forum, for it to be locked behind a reasonably high bar for new users seems....poorly thought out, at best.
Now that I think of it, my inability to link in this community is similar to how it's often REDACTED is inexplicably incapable of linking, whereas in PRIME it's *too* easy and I accidentally sh*tlink...
Quote the post you like, wait for a moment (to make sure draft is saved, theres a short notification at the bottom) and then post it (you get error message) , then go to your drafts folder, post the message from there.
Someone reported that bug few days ago, but still works

Adding my contribution to this insightful thread :D
This is hilarious and #winning
Could it be called win-trading? 🤣
That is VERY insightful of you! 🤣😂😍

Me?!? I can't tell whom your asking... But my AP is WAY higher than my forum points. BWAHAHAHA!
I'll try this one. Even i have to like all the post in three pages :))
On a regular basis! 😉
My insight is that It's only useful if you join in with voting for the posts above yours.
following...
You need to do more than just follow 😉
Can you explain how we got the points?
Start a thread = .... Point
Reply = .... Point
And what else?

I think I missed my streak on here 😂
It is never too late.
Also the topic is quite fair after all.😎

I haven't posted anything here for half a day. This is a nice thread for building community spirit.
Starting a thread gets you no points.
Posting a comment gets you no points.
Getting Like & Insightful reactions to your posts get you points.
The sum total of your (at time of posting) 16 points come from reactions to just 5 posts.
I'd like to be able to quote people when still at level one. Since that's not changing, like if you agree so I can get to level 2.
Would you like my post on another thread then?
😁
I can quote people on level 1.
Comment anythin
Hasn't worked for me consistently, usually get the "can't send links" warning.

So.... ingress community posting has a cooldown like the scanner? 🤣
Quoting in this Vanilla system seems to insert a link to the post, which is then rendered as a quote.
Whether it's the link or the content of the quoted post which counts towards the post character limit, I don't know yet.
