Would it be possible to increase the size of the text field for the description and submission statement (this was, as far as I could tell, unlimited in Redacted)? Currently, a Tweet is allowed more characters than the description. While this might not make a difference for the majority of submissions, it can make or break many interesting PoI's such as historic buildings and local hotspots/hidden gems/unique local businesses that rely on detailed (and often very interesting) descriptions. I don't see any potential for abuse (I've done more than 18,000 OPR reviews and haven't seen any harm from a longer description) and nothing but upside.
I'll also note that this limitation is even harsher for users who write in certain languages other than English that require more characters to convey the same information.
Please do not take this question to be disrespectful. I find the IUENG channel to be not only overly-chatty but poorly moderated, rules seemingly changing by the whims of the emotional mood swings of the moderators. My question - why do you make announcements in this channel ? (therefore hundreds of agents follow the channel just so they don’t miss what you say) Are you aware that much of the Krug news comes out of that channel?
For the 5 year anniversary, players with all 5 key lockers got a 6th bonus one. At any point in the forseeable future will the 6th keylocker become available again?
Perhaps, initially no free tickets at Umbra Anomaly as a start of discussion for monetizing Ingress between Ingress Agents. What do you and Niantic members think for this discussion at Ingress Foruum and between Ingress Agents? And, if you can, tell us what kind of monetize idea for Ingress do you have or do Niantic members have.
For Portal Review Complete emails, will we ever see the return of the intel map link in the email for approved portals? Or the return of displaying the photo instead of just a hyperlink to the photo?
Is there an official response to the current lack of in game/in comm alerts that have been occuring since last Friday? There's a lot of speculation about it being related to the issue we all saw on Saturday, but it started prior to those issues and so far there's been no response. It doesn't appear to be app related is it occurs both in scanner and Intel.
Bloomington IN and a number of other mission day sites have been waiting for mission day badges for a month and a half. Any idea what is holding up the badge pushes for mission days?
When doing OPR, There are a lot of submissions that are not on the poi or not at all portal worthy, like a man hole cover. Will Niantic ever introduce a rating scale similar to those reviewing for submitters?
My account has become unplayable after first strike because I was using Xiaomi phone.the account has become totally unplayable and I have not been able to play for months .my phone is Redmi 5 and miui 10.3.2.0 Please respond to my query 🙏🙏. as you can see neither comm or surrounding activity is logged and I can't make in-game actions
About Avenir Shards, there was an opinion from a Ingress Agent.
"I don't know if the game designer has changed from Raza Ahmad. But it seems that the game designer doesn't make well to compete without hate. Looks like game designer side having fear with hate and it makes break game features. [When the measurement time is over, there is no side. Good work! It was fun!] I wonder if we'll go back to the game style that we can say that again."
"It should have the rule that if Resistance links jumped shard first, next jump must be Enlightened links, then next is Resistance links, Enlightened links→Resistance links→Enlightened links...like this."
So, what do you think of this opinion and can you tell us about game design?
There are many players who are passionate about OPR. Are OPR improvements on Niantic's agenda in regards to back end upgrades, user experience on the front-end platform, and/or quality control?
With increased monetization efforts, devaluation of volunteer efforts, and Redacted's retirement (may it rest in peace,) there have been a glaring amount of concerns related to Niantic's most valuable resource: player-generated POI. I think many of us can agree that it's a frequently abused system and the appearance of consequences are next to none.
Manipulation of Open Street Maps to remove K-12 designations to circumvent rejections AND portal removals. Title and description edits that are harassing and abusive to players, specifically and non-specifically, but cannot be easily reported because there is no function for that in OPR. Portal manipulation that gets portals accepted but then moved to increase density in a certain area, circumventing density and location criteria. And a completely useless appeals forum that cherry picks which appeals to review and when, causing many players to ignore or give up on our ONLY recourse.
As active participants in the growth of this game, we are increasingly concerned that our volunteer efforts are under-valued and under-mined. We don't want something for nothing. We're dedicating our time when we can't throw our wallet at this. We need NIA support--an OPR platform that supports good review practice, an responsive appeals process, and an equitable and progressive set of consequences to curb abusive and harassing behaviors.
1- Please, PLEASE, could you increase the range of editions to the same as nominations?
I did some editions in january and haven’t received even a denial so far, because in my city has just me reviewing, like most non-capital cities, there is insufficient reviewers to finish an edition.
While I get nominations from FOUR THOUSAND KM from me, still haven’t get any edition from outside my city. Even from bonus location isn’t coming. If I can review a nomination from thousands of km from me, why I can’t review editions as well?
2- Please, could you expand the guide?
There is tons of things that are being accepted in some region and denied in another. We need an oficial opinion to be fair for everyone.
3- Why aren't candidates from the nearby capital (300km away from me) not showing up in OPR for me to review, but 70% of my reviews are from locations 2000km from me?
I already set up home city and bonus location. Also, friends of mine who live in the capital and nearby region aren’t getting candidates from here, the same state.
4- Please, could you impose some limitation to Pokemon Go nominations, some badge requirement (like Ingress), a test, w/e?
Unlikely Ingress, PoGo players have a lot of multiacc with lvl40.
I have a neighbor who bought 10 accounts so far, he has 70 nominations, he can flood OPR with a lot of ****, because 99,9% of players don’t read the portal criteria or just want a couch pokestop/gym. Most of nominations in OPR are a big pile of ****, we lost a LOT of time denying that, and yet, some are still being approved. This last days without PoGo nominations here in Brazil are being a paradise, OPR is clean like never was.
That would be too a good suggestion to let the skilled ones in PoGo to enter in OPR.
5- What happens when I suggest a new location in a review? Just one suggestion don’t change the original submitted location, right?
5- About the star rating, I would like to ask for a more specific guide, because how I can review the same type of candidate, but one has a great architectonic value and other is just common?
Example, what is a 2 in the head rating? I know that 3 is if I’m in doubt if it’s deserve or not to be a portal, a 2 would be I’m don’t agree or disagree, like a “whatever”? 4 would be “should be” and 5 is “REALLY should be”?
The guide says ‘water tower’ is suggested a 4, what I should rate visual and cultural? If it’s a common water tower should be 1? There is anything of cultural in a water tower?
What’s the scale in the visual/culture rating? 1 for have nothing cultural? 1 in visual to be very common in region?
What’s the point to review that, if I already choose a head rating to the candidate, if I think it deserve to be a portal or not? Like, I put a 4 in the head rating, then in visual/cultural I put 1, how it’s interpreted by system?
Location I have a doubt too, like, the system says a candidate I can’t see, but probably is there, is a 3, but what if I found it in satellite/street view, but the pin is like 10 meters from the real position (very common from PoGo players to dodge occupied cells)? And, what’s the meaning of 2 and 4 rating?
Also, what’s the difference between putting 1 star ‘Mismatched Location’ and 1 star just in the Location criterion?
6- Why when I do a nomination the system uses Google Maps/Satellite, but the game itself uses Openstreetmaps?
I did a nomination, but when it was approved and came online, it was significantly displaced compared to where I had put on the satellite, being out of “dark green” area where there is a chance do become a Gym Ex.
Several years ago, I had a freshly-minted L8 player on my anomaly team who was a Niantic employee. Some months back, we had a new player in town come to a First Saturday who said she has a job interview with Niantic soon, then stop playing locally shortly thereafter. I thought these were both good experiences for helping employees (or potential employees) interface with the community. How much are Niantic employees, both on and off the ingress team, required, encouraged, and/or supported to go out and play the game, both locally and at special events? Do you think having the team play more in diverse settings help develop the game and better respond to what the players want or need?
I loved Embedded Reporter Role, thanks for all the fish, on this opportunity to being a MINICUP!! Loved helping shape this role as we went along. I will be Reporting from Brooklyn!
So, I am following up on"MISSIONS/BANNER MISSIONS."
With the Sunsetting of Redacted, PRIME out the door, and Umbra heading into this weekend, where is Development for MISSIONS and BANNER MISSION'S?
I wanted to suggest, that it would be cool to rebuild the authoring Tool, with the Rejection Reasons built in, so that by the time one finished authoring the banner mission, there wouldn't be any violation of building a mission/banner missions. To be proactive and head off the issues before the missions are completed.
What do you think??
This would sure make things so much less stress for many Banner Mission Addicts. 😋😋☺️☺️👍👍😍😍
Best to you, and glad you recovered from the hellaciois flu, too. Thanks again, for everything., A2PANTHER
Hello Andrew! Why is shard game just limited to Anomaly or Special Events? Do you think it is feasible to add it to the daily game and that it could be weighted to the region or global score?
Hi me and my wife have been playing for over three years and would say we have a good relationship with people in both factions. Recently I have been harassed by two fairly new players in the opposite faction who are adamant we are cheating which we are not, I have blocked the players on Comms but due to my anxiety and depression I now feel that I may need to stop playing all together if I can't prove these people wrong. My wife is also disabled and the only social life we have is Ingress related. It suddenly feels like I'm back at school and being bullied. Do you have any advice for someone in my situation or is there anything Niantic can do to help me clear our names. Thank you in advance.
In OPR, why are the categories 1-5 stars? Several of them should be binary Yes/No or ternary Yes/No/Maybe.
For example, for Location - 1 star would suggest wrong location (which should disqualify it, per Portal Criteria), 3 is maybe it is there, and 5 is definitely there, I can see on the map or in street view. What would 2 or 4 mean?
Similarly, Title. It's either accurate, or not, right? What would 2, 3, or 4 mean for Title?
.googlemail.com accounts are locked out of Prime, the guidance provided by the support bot doesn't really work, there is no response from human support. When is it going to be fixed?

Q: Will we see a real global shard event any time soon?
Are we going to be able to rearrange medals in Prime?

Q: What do the cage door overlays on people's avatars in the Forums mean?
Q: What are the points requirements for each forum level?
Why the forum is still broken?
What's the AHT for manually approved post?
Why there is no "Draft" option in mobile view of the forum?
Why that chicken got banned from crossing the road to its supposed destination?

As stated in this video
The basic actions are: hacking, capture, destroy, linking, fielding
There are issues with many of them.
Hacking: command channel still gets stuck
Capture: deploying resonators sometimes hangs, and then resumes at normal speed (server side issue suspected)
Linking: nearby portals are not offered for linking. It happens from time to time.
Also fast linking is still not fixed.
Fielding: it's difficult to see single layer fields.
Will you focus on fixing the basic actions instead of introducing features that most agents don't need (e.g. vibration on every action) ?
