The cosmetic medal for the Comic Sans event has been added to the initial announcement but I'm sharing it here for those that follow along via RSS/bots.
This is a separate medal that can be purchased for 2500 CMU and is not the one earned from completing the Comic Sans challenge.

Wishing there was boosted key output leading up to this event, of course, as I'm farming keys, I'm getting 2-3 keys before burnout on some portals and it's driving me crazy, lol. Granted, 90 seconds between hacks is still way easier than then traditional option

You can always do it in a weekend, and take the other weekend off...
People who can't do it on the only weekend don't have the same flexibility.

does this mean, the event medal can be obtained by paying, or is it a different design ..?

No because it's similar to Nemesis names as Courier, Helvetica, Didact, etc

No, all links count, being able to link under fields is just a bonus.
