A heretofore unknown and self-proclaimed member of Nemesis, identifying themselves only as Comic Sans, has made contact with NIA Researchers with knowledge of “horizontal partitioning and interconnection” across worlds. In a brief and cryptic statement, they relayed:

At the time of this post, NIA Researchers were unable to decipher the meaning of this enigmatic statement. They were also unable to confirm Comic Sans’ origin or intent. As such, NIA Researchers have not ruled out the possibility that Comic Sans may introduce a lasting change to the Scanner app’s functionality.
Erring on the side of caution, NIA Researchers need additional time to assess this Global Challenge. Starting Thursday, 31 March 1600 UTC to Thursday, 7 April 1600 UTC, a three-tier medal will be available to all Agents who aid in the investigation by creating Links. Please note that the dates of this event window have been pushed back from previously shared intel.
To earn the Comic Sans Challenge medal,
- Bronze Tier: Create 4 Links
- Silver Tier: Create 41 Links
- Gold Tier: Create 401 Links
A new “Comic Sans Links” event metric will be added to your Agent Profile for the duration of this Global Challenge to help you monitor the number of Links established.
Also expected during this time period:
- Links shorter than 500m in length can be created under Fields (all other preconditions still apply)
- 41-minute Drone cooldown
In addition to the earned medal, also available during the event period in the Ingress Store:
- Limited-time Comic Sans medal (2,500 CMU)
The Sakura Collection medals (2,500 CMU per medal) will be available once again from Monday, 21 March 0000 UTC to Monday, 2 May 0000 UTC.

No lore on why we need to create links, a silly name and just... what really.
Also the badge looks odd, why is top tier red instead of black?

Links under fields length is good
The prime scanner is fine at this point. I prefer it to Redacted, it's come so far and I enjoy the increased view + easier to refill XM + bulk delete. Redacted had lag too.
My main concern after the mention of a permanent change was linking under fields though under 500m is ok enough with me. Allows microfielding; doesn't disincentive takedowns too much. I would still love to see the profile and cell score glorify takedowns.
Not that anything, but the gold medal is very nice. And I'm gonna get it. After all, a color other than green or pink. Personally, I like blue and green to the same extent . Hope it's not joke April Fool's Day.

As long as there are new announcements with dynamic events and the arrival of new medals. I hope that the new players that need "Gold" to level up manage to overcome this new metric that will surely help them.
And for the veterans here, we will have the opportunity to get one more medal to our profile while we have fun linking on the field of play.

Will there be an increase of key output in the event to help agents to get the highest tier given the shorter duration as advertised?

For 2+ months it was advertised as March 24th to April 4th
Now it changed to March 31st to April 7th.

It would be a good idea to increase the probability of obtaining a greater number of keys.
However, we can take advantage of the delay with the date of the event and get the necessary keys from now on.
Tip: Try creating multifields that way, it won't take much time and surely you may need fewer keys from the base portals. ✌️

Why has Ingress given up on the 10 day, Friday to Monday event format that was very well received by the community?
Having a single weekend on short notice (since the dates changed) means if you're already busy, you're unable to be involved. The previous Thursday to Monday 11 day event was a good plan, but the updated dates throw that out the window and mess people over.
Why does this not go to the 11th of April?
500m is too short. Make it 5km 😁

No idea where you got the idea that I was talking about Pokemon Go. Ingress having 10 day event cycles for most of the Windows Font Villains, including originally advertised for this event has been well received by the Ingress community.
