Well, I think it's wise to let Niantic answer for the sake of information accuracy. I've got an iPhone 12 Pro Max and I don't have the feature, it's a flagship phone with Lidar scanner and everything.
My guess is the function isn't enabled yet because of slow rollout, but the fact they didn't mention it bothers me. #communication
The feature is already enabled, I could already try it out. Have you tried going into the scan view and then tapping the new icon top right? Only when you actually start downloading the required files for the Meshing through this, the option will also appear in the settings.
Okay. Well I'll try that. But again, communication. The post clearly states that the 'supported devices' have this option. You're stating otherwise (probably correct :D)
Anyone know if this second logo makes for a longer load up or not? The last thing we need is less time to defend portals we can’t really defend anyways because of the lag. Watched an L8 portal lose a shield and six resos in one go. Then the other two, gone.
Having this as an optional download is nice... only allowing us to download it when within scanning range of a portal (and therefore probably not on Wi-Fi) isn't so great.
I have a brand new 13 Pro Max. Equipped with LIDAR, Gyro, Accelerometer, Barometer and every other relevant sensor.
I am however running iOS 15.2 Beta.
Is it checking for a known software version for Meshing? It says my device is not supported which would be absurd, with it being the most powerful smartphone ever made.
@NianticBrian Please we get pop up in Ingress Prime about new Adventure Sync and we can allow from pop up. Nothing now and it is bad for the foture and new player now know nothing about Adventure Sync. Very bad we cant easy allow Adventure Sync from pop up message.
Many of this agents posts frustrate me, but also, not everyone on these forums speak english natively and I have to assume some people who don't speak at all may have a tough time conveying thoughts (thinking someone who uses sign language perhaps).
@NianticBrian No notification when Kinetic Capsule are comple with Adventure Sync on and go with Ingress app close or not open. Please relese notification now when Ingress Prime are close and we enable Adventure Sync.
Just went out to test mesh scanning and thinking I’ll stick to the normal method. I tried mesh scanning something several times and all of them failed. The normal method took about 15 seconds and 90mb per scan. I was only ever able to successfully scan half the portals I encountered and all of them took nearly the entire 30 seconds and all were over 100mb.
Not sure if I’m missing something with this new method. I did try being closer, further, slower, faster. It seems like the portal may require a certain degree of texture, but not sure if that’s what will have me getting less failed scans.
I did take video of me trying one specific portal 5 times, as mentioned above. All mesh scans failed, the traditional method completed in 15 seconds. I did go back and read Brian’s initial post about this, but even the gif doesn’t really match what’s asked. Walk slowly around the portal. That person was walking down a sidewalk pointing the camera at everything. Would love some clarification or suggestions on how best to use this optional feature to better help lightships endeavors.
What I understand it’s the visual feedback in the ui that is different. However it made me understand that portal scanning is only a few meters; I’ve effectively only scanned the sidewalk, shrubbery and other non-portal related stuff, because you literally have to be on top of the portal to scan it.
Scanning buildings from a distance doesn’t work; and I really don’t understand why.
Niantic only use the data Google collect. Niantic never collect or cellens the data from agents. If you turn of all from Google, Google always collect your data about steps and location they save your history to even if you turn it of. Not worry about Niantic only use the data for app and never sell it.
When you click the little info button on the mesh screen, it gives you advice that isn't actually helpful to successful mesh scanning. The example above more or less eludes to just wandering around and scanning surfaces. So I tried a few different things.
My assumption is that mesh scanning is more for general 3D scanning. Large surfaces, not fine detail. Though, I'm curious how fine the traditional method even is. Anyways, I went out, wandered around, breathed heavily and recorded my findings.
Good afternoon. When you try to enable Scan Meshing, a message appears stating that meshing is not supported on your device. Although earlier there was information that all those devices that support scanning will support the Scan Meshing function. I own a Samsung S10 device. I would like more information on this issue. I would also like to see a list of devices that support Scan Meshing.

Dear Brian, could you post the APK file in the title message at once? This would be very useful for many players who do not have Google services.
Okay. Well I'll try that. But again, communication. The post clearly states that the 'supported devices' have this option. You're stating otherwise (probably correct :D)
Thanks. That actually works. Still strange you have to enable it somewhere else to get the toggle available in settings.
Also, too bad to see that the issue with 'scanning in slow motion' hasn't been resolved.

I think there's a small delay, but I'm not 100% sure because the normal Ingress logo fades almost instantly after it appears

I didn’t get any prompt to download anything on iPhone.
It takes longer to load the game, yes.
When you go to Scan Portal, after this update you should get this symbol.
It’ll be crossed through but if you tap it you can then enable Portal Meshing.
I’m on an iPhone 12 if that helps anyone that can’t see the settings for this.

iOS version doesn’t matter. They just haven’t listed this device as compatible.
Have they listed which devices are compatible?

All your posts seem like brain farts. What the heck are you even saying here? Very bad we can't allow adventure sync from a popup?
No, but I've seen one of the update channels on TG ask for 'supported devices'.
May I ask: how exactly will this work for people who use different Google accounts for Ingress and for Google Fit?
Old icon for Ingress 1 when we allow adventure sync on Google. Please resolve we get the Ingress Prime icon.

Brian mentioned that they're already working on it in this thread
👍🏻💙😀
It means we soon get 2.83.2 and not 2.83.1?

Mesh Scanning is working my 11 Pro Max

If Google Fit is not required, is it a bug that Ingress requested access to that data?
Also Ingress is asking for GPS access even when not playing Ingress.
If Google Fit is not needed, why ask for that permission. If Ingress does use Google Fit, why ask for GPS access all the time?

So I went back out after watching the "example" gif posted here: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/16932/dev-diary-powered-by-niantic-lightship-coming-soon/p1
