Can we please have an update on how the new strategy of waiting to ban spoofers is going? On the front lines we are seeing a dramatic decrease in morale due to the wait and see approach that is being used currently. Quite often, the most obvious spoofers are allowed to live and disrupt game play for days before they are finally banned. Thanks for your help!
Hi Andrew, firstly I would like to thank you and the NIA team for your work in adding the reinstatement of ownership, mods, links and fields that have been impacted by spoofing. It's a great step forward in taking away the driver for the majority of spoofing actions.
Q. Is there plans to further automate the reinstatement process? It is still a very manual process recording and collating the portal state prior, xfac agreement, submission prior to reinstatement, All of this adds up to several days to a week during which time spoofers (and others) are taking advantage of the open lanes and adding hard blockers to the spoofed lanes which NIA will not remove prior to reinstatement and so they are lost.
Any further improvements to this would go a long way to taking away the benefits of spoofing and let us all get back to doing what we love most, playing ingress!
I've and a couple of other agents in my local area have had several historic buildings rejected by OPR, all of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, either as a standalone building or as a contributing building in a historic district. Beyond buildings that are private residential property, are such buildings portal worthy do to their listed on National Register of Historic Places or does their listing have no bearing on their candidacy as portals, as some in a Reddit thread suggested? Also, should whether a historic building is occupied or vacant affect its candidacy since the building's nomination?
So with the demise of G+, and losing many months of questions about OPR - many of which appeared to contradict "official" OPR guidelines and indeed each other - is it time the OPR guide (opr.ingress.com/guide) got updated?
I am wondering about what is commonly refered to as "Fake Camera." The classic scanner app, as well as Redacted, allow you to submit from anywhere, even if you are hundreds or thousands of KMs away from the submission you are entering. This has been raised on your AMAs numerous times, and was raised again in this community. Your previous replies, and I am summarizing, said don't do it.
There are cases where it can be used to the credit of the game. And others, such as submitting portals one has never been to with others' photos or photos from the web, where it's not. The abuse of the feature for PoGo or strategic purposes are two that come to mind.
Is there any update on the stance Niantic has on "Fake Camera" (Is it allowed, is it considered location falsification, etc). And will we see it as an option in Prime at all considering the difficulty is submissions in low signal areas. Thanks!
A new community forum has started. Although Japanese is also available in this forum, it looks like a one-way view from AG. Is there an answer from the NIA?
Myriad and Umbra are start from APAC region then finalle are America. Is there any plan or can be Anomaly event (like as Myriad and Umbra, not like as Abaddon Prime) start from America then end at APAC regions?
When Prime gets the ability to submit portal edits, will there also be an option to provide a photo / explanation to the OPR community if needed? I have had more edits rejected than accepted in the past, even though they were valid edits intended to keep the portal database up to date. If we could provide supporting info along with our edits, that would make it much easier for the reviewers to make the right decision.
When a portal has very positive ratings over all criteria, but only the location is wrong ,(e.g. 10 m from object that is visible) what should i rate overall? Does it make sense repositioning the POI and then give it 5*?
Can you update us on the roadmap for refreshing the mission experience in prime. Previously I believe you've said that it needs an overhaul rather than minor tweaks. Do we have an ETA on our even confirmation of those works?
I'm thinking about linked banners, searching mission lists, easier identification of local missions, that sort of thing, but I'm sure you already have other ideas yourself.
An agent was recently given a passcode and told it was a character face badge for her scanner, it was actually an anomaly badge that she did not warn and is extremely distressed that this is in her scanner now. The agent who gave it to her did it intentionally and thinks it is hilarious. She submitted a ticket asking for it to be removed, and Carlo said:
"We really applaud for your honesty in removing the Badge from your Ingress account.
Unfortunately, at this time, we're not able to remove any Badges from your agent profile...'
If you can add badges why can you not remove them in cases like this? Also, Niantic has the ability to hide badges as we have seen with badges such as Seer. Why the unwillingness to help? Can you help please?
Intel map: is there any chance we'll get any developments on the map any time soon?
Feature A:
Specifically I'd like to be able to view an agent's profile from the Intel map, from a portal they are on or a comm message they send, (not just viewing any agent profile at will, privacy, load, other considerations accepted).
This would be good to see players without having to resort to the scanner and pinging them. It would also allow you to see their mission badges in a much clearer format, avoiding the app bugs when players have too many missions to load.
Additionally viewing your own profile this way could link into sharing, e g. Agent stats.
We got the force reload in prime after 10secs, so we don't stand around in empty maps that often, yay! Could you please tweak that time to allow for a more fluid experience? Reducing to 7 or better 5 would be much appreciated and presumably can't hurt the servers that much.
Intel map: is there any chance we'll get any developments on the map any time soon?
Feature B:
I'd love to be able to view my keys on the Intel map. I'm not sure how this would be implemented, a key carousel which when clicked would jump to that location, a flag over a portal showing the keys are held, or something else.
There are a number of reasons,
Firstly sometimes I just don't know where keys are that I've picked up on my travels...
Secondly it'd be great for fielding planning to see what keys you have and what options they provide
Thirdly it'd just be a cool thing to be able to do.
Plus I'm sure people can think of other useful reasons to view your keys this way.
Are there any plans to make S2 cells 1:1 across all games to prevent the pokemon go community submitting duplicate portals, as their submission system is now spreading to a lot more countries?
Having the duplicate submissions in OPR will be a nightmare once it hits here in the UK as there are a lot of L40 trainers and its already a nightmare with all the edit requests.
Can all the participants of the last Kaoxiung Anomaly who bought supporter kits and registered on Friday night receive a VR MOD card code instead of a missing sticker sheet in their supporter kit, in case they did not get refund?
The anomalies of 2019 were great! The ruleset were spot on, good job there!
However, it would be nice to see the Prime Challenge or Urban OPs again. Their badges would require some rework though (bronze to Platin ****?) and also the other Goruck badge requirements are a bit off. The physical onyx patch is given out to participants with 6 events, maybe you'd like to reflect that a bit more on the digital scanner counterpart
Can event (First Saturday or Mission Day for example.) POCs have a way to send a message to every player in the area the event will occur in? Spamming general chat in game to let people know about the events is not ideal.

When will all REDACTED features be transferred?

Hi Andrew ,
Could we please have spell check in prime subs ? I really need all the help I can get 😬☹️
Have a wonderful day!

Hello, I have one questión, my declaration of portals in ingress prime is apart of my declarations un scanner redacted?
Good to have you back on AMAs, Andrew.

(P.S. the rule doesn't have previous AMA document link.)

When will the details of "Field Tests" event unveiled? Is this new type of events combined with XM Anomalies, or indipendent ones?
Hello! Why there is no more anomaly events in Russia since 2016?
Other OPR question.

Not sure if it has already been asked, but will future Anomaly series remain 1 date or will there be 2 or 3 like other series?

Could you add the possibility to check if a portal is too close to the existing ones before sending the candidate submission?
Hello Andrew Will there ever be "watertight" barriers between Ingress and PokeMongo?
As it is now OPR in our area is flooded with false attempts to edit Portal locations apperently in order to maximize gym counts in the area.
Best regards
Jaredelg

I love the new platform for AMA! Hope for a dark theme sooner than later!
