Maybe we should let the greatest of games quietly go to another world?

Please allow to grunt the old forty-year-old old man, who remembers that a long time ago, with the old scanner, it was better. Yes, this is no longer the same ingress that it was before. Or rather, it’s not even an ingress, but some kind of gaming product similar to it. Well, you know, there are cheeses made from natural milk, which are both nutritious and healthy, but there are also cheese products made from all kinds of palm oils and chemicals that cannot be called healthy. That's how it is with our favorite game...

I see a half-dead community; in Ukrainian chats on Ingress we now communicate exclusively for personal interests, that's why I haven't deleted my account from the scanner yet)))

I see a lack of activity in the cities of my country, and regularly hear that the same situation is in many places around the globe. We haven't had any major updates in the game for a long time. We haven’t had a normal story or videos for over a year now. It feels like there is only one person working on the game client, who is half a designer and half a programmer. Oh yes, there is also a dumb community manager who cannot speak to the community for some mysterious reason. Even on the game forum there are only two or three dozen active users. So our patient is more likely dead than alive. Unfortunately, we cannot influence the patient’s recovery in any way. We cannot achieve this even with monetary assistance.

And if there are still several agents playing somewhere, then the overall situation is deplorable.

Therefore, I’ll ask you, Maybe it’s still worth collecting all the remnants of active agents and letting the game quietly go to another world? Let only the best memories remain of her, and not all this inappropriateness that is happening now?

I was devoted to the game from the very beginning, now I sincerely regret this game.

Well, it looks like we live in two different worlds. There are almost no active agents left in my country. In large cities of neighboring countries, the number of players has dropped several times...

Maybe @GreenVam just needs to switch to another game. Have your tried Orna? Or maybe Resources (Android).

Come to New York City if you are that level disheartened. Here's still just as wild.

I'm not sure why @GreenVam thinks that "It's not fun where I live" is a reason to spoil it for the rest of us. Perhaps he should study the parable of the blind men and the elephant?

My area still has extremely active competition. This is what it looks like right now.

The game has changed. There are two eras of the game. Pre Prime and Prime. Both are different. The game now is simply solo play and in rare areas there are two teams that compete. Take it for what it is. It does feel very hands off with respect to Niantic. They have come through with some changes. But nothing with regards to recruiting new players. I'm just surprised it's still going. I'll play until they pull the plug. Still gives me something to do when I'm bored. Other than that it's just an app on a cell phone for downtime.

Dude, it's a game out there to explore. Game might not be in its peak but that shouldn't let you not have fun.

    Paris

    London

    New-York

in cities where more than several hundred agents were playing at the same time, now only a few active players are playing. It is a fact. If you don't understand this, then I'm...

The game is dead, so either you still are able to take some fun out of it or not. Seems very simple to me.

What time did you look at Intel? Based on that, I have more agents playing that NYC! (and I know that's not true) Take a hint, find a new hobby to moan about.

Try when people are not either at work (London, Paris) or in bed (New York).

@VenomousToad Again, the parable of the blind man and the elephant. If you're only looking at your local area then you can't make broad pronouncements about the state of the game.

It would go a LONG way to warming the souls of old salty IFU dogs if niantic would show ANY effort at managing and improving relations with the Ingress community. Something besides making cookie cutter anomalies or MDs.

If this has occurred and I missed it, please advise.

    When was the last AMA?

Let the game die in your mind, by stopping. No need to stop those who are still enjoying it. Niantic will do that when they're ready.

    Anything else is just FOMO.

Why are they not doing anything to increase the playerbase?

Niantic needs to add something big to entice people who've stopped playing to come back. My game play has lowered in the past month not only because gas is getting high again but also due to the lack of active agents in the community and it's the same thing every day, k ill, cap, link field. The game is stale as it's been the same thing for the last few years. With many mmo games there's usually something that is uniquely added to keep players interested. We need something like new levels, abilities, new xm type of weapons/items, and a solid story line could do bring some interest back. Also some QoL stuff like making the game work better in low connectivity areas, drawing less data for imagery for actual game play.

Let us upgrade our drones to do different things, like have it change its activity to be able to do a different action per flight. Like we could have it cap a portal instead of hack.

Let VRLAs be a hackable item finally.

Player traits don't wouldn't exactly over power agents but give something more for advanced levels.

I'm just spit balling random ideas but something needs to happen to reel people back to Ingress. Machina didn't really do that sadly.

all that requires ingress to make more money which i doubt it does today even if they raised the core price i dont see any difference. if u look at the latest things we have got that is drone kinetics and now bounties all those are more or less solo stuff nothing that makes u want play as team or even bother look at the local scoreboards.. and yeah no story no lore also makes no sense why should anyone care then..

what they can do already is make machina infect blue and green fields if no human player has attacked then let the ai faction do something as it is now it will only spawn in dead inactive areas where nobody plays and few that wants to spend gas on a mobile game to attack ai portals....

To begin with, it would be enough to organize a dialogue with players on the forum. And there you can do everything else. But Brian doesn’t make contact, I wrote to him on social networks and invited him to come to the forum and chat with agents. I also tried to write to the Community Manager, she also didn’t care about our problems. Does anyone have contact with the administration of our game or with the developers? Well, maybe someone knows at least a cleaning lady who works at Niantic? Or any pizza or coffee delivery guy for this company???

And it wasn’t just me who wrote this, many agents wrote to Brian and the community manager. It did not help. No one was answered. This is absolute disgusting, this is how he treats his clients.

There is such a game, Crossout Mobile, and in general there are many such games. It has a telegram channel, it has communities on social networks, and there are managers everywhere responding to every adequate message addressed to the company. Every two or three months there are updates with a ton of content. What do we have? But we have silence, we don’t even have banal AMAs. And why? But because the company is “doing well.” Something like this...
