[Feature Request] Make your avatar smaller or hide it all together from the linking screen
When fielding a portal dense area your avatar constantly gets in the way to see where you are trying to link especially as the avatar is larger than the portal itself and in some cases can end up covering multiple portals.
Suggestion would be to make your avatar smaller than the portal size or better still keep the hack range circle and make the avatar a small dot instead.
Being able to see the link options and not have portals obscured is key to linking and fielding, being able to see that you are at the portal you are linking from is not.

This would be an excellent QoL (Quality of Life) update to the game. I know many fielders would highly appreciate it. Disagrees are likely those who don't enjoy making lots of little triangles.
Negative, making a lot of small triangles, you get lost with where you are and having the avatar on screen is essential.
Especially when traveling to unfamiliar cities
Making it smaller would help sooo much. Based on the screen shot above, I see 3 portals within their sphere of influence, but there could be another one under their avatar. Unsure. OP would need to reply. Places I micro field I can often get 5-8 portals in my sphere of influence (or is it action circle?), either way, I sometimes have to move so I can see to field easier. QoL update.
It could easily be a toggle switch, that would shrink your avatar xx% and be off by default. Like many other options within the game.

You're not talking about the main screen are you? I'm talking about the screen when you select a portal and click link.
Chance here for Niantic to make an easy “Invisible Avatar” and sell it for 2500 CMU.

From my own, and very recent, experience.
Having the avatar on screen during linking or on the main view was critical to ensure that where I was linking to was what I intended to.
This then enabled me to swing back to attempt to get more keys from portals I didn't have. And rethrow.
Little bits of information like this is immensely helpful. Removing them adds to me being confused, when being confused is not desirable.
If the portal you are linking from is highlighted, your avatar or location does not need to be visible, at least not with such a big avatar
Prefer portal gets highlighted just like link option portal gets highlighted
