Thanks bugs

So last weekend over 100 ENL agents were working together to build thick layers of green in the Netherlands.
Even before RES got a chance to block our efforts we had to battle another enemy namely a ghostlink:
Almost 24 hours later the link was still shown both on the intel map as well as in the scanner. How is it even possible to have such a link block efforts of so many agents? Unfortunately the time to clear the other side of the link was too long and we lost our window of opportunity for linking. So thank you! We had fun but the game was not working as intended and was not contributing to the fun. Hopefully such issues can be fixed as this was such an anti-climax.

Did you escalate to Vanguard?
I'm sorry your planning and fun were foiled.
I've heard that if you deploy a beacon or fireworks on the portal, its ghost link will drop.
Tried that without luck
Oh, look! Another perfect example of why support requires urgent attention.
100 agents affected is no reason to review anything, unless a VG says so.
It was impossible to fix within a few seconds so I didn't really see why I should bother a Vanguard with it?
Furthermore, the reason this was posted was just to make Niantic aware of the effect such bugs have on the player base.
Or why bugs should be fixed period.

Did you even bother to find out if a ticket was logged? I assume not, since nothing was mentioned and you just assumed here.
@iFrankmans I realise this will be after-the-fact, but you can actually report ghost links on the support site, using the "Problems with map/scanner" option. I've reported several in the past and they were attended to in a short amount of time. Just supply the portal intel link or coordinates that the link is ghosting on, and state that it is visible both in scanner and on the intel map.
Well thanks, but in this case it was a matter of seconds. So how fast is average response time to such requests?
Aaah not that fast, I'm afraid. So far I've had anything from within the hour to 5 hours turnaround on those tickets.
Can I even bother to do such thing? Only Niantic can get that data :)
And, yes, I assumed that at least one ticket was logged as the lad came to the forum to shame and blame...
... which appears to be wrong reading this last comment, so fair point then.
Well you can understand that that is utterly useless if you are executing a big field with over a 100 agents, any delay will just give the opponent more time. That's also the reason I am putting it here, to show the impact of such a seemingly innocent bug.
Even filing a ticket was pointless, there was just no time for it. So no this is not meant to shame and blame. It is to show how such bugs can impact a large number of players.
Well, I know a case where it took 20 minutes only to revert the issue and keep going with the OP and some othere where it took 1-2 h. Pointless is not the word I'd use, but insufficient is more accurate.
That is why someone asked if you escalated through VG and that is why I made my statement.
I thank you for the help, and yes this could be an option in certain areas, but Europe typically doesn't allow you for even 20 minute delays in fielding.
Same, it's worth reporting than doing nothing. You could get lucky and get it cleared before enemy action.
We had a ghost link blocking a line during shards whilst using satphone in Tasmania. Much anguish so I know how you feel.
