13 Archetypes: Interpreter - Wrong Answers Only!

I'm trying to make a blog post, that covers this entire series.
I would love to know techniques that people tried, that led no where, or worse(better!) led somewhere that seemed promising, but wasn't.
So please, reply with how you attempted to solve Interpreter, Wrong answers only.

Trying to interpret the shape of sound waves as letters for far too long.
Trying to modify pitch and speed to try to actually hear voices.
Using a version of <open source tool> that showed the output glyphs in an extremely fuzzy mode. Also having NEVER used said tool previously, having no way to understand that there was any option to expand the default range, despite the obvious google result making zero mention of that even being a possibility.
This is another one of those oldie ARG things that keeps cropping up. Originally inspired by electronic artists doing it. Aphex Twin did it a few times (putting his own face into "Equation" and a spiral into "Windowlicker") and Venetian Snares put his cats into "Look".
Yeah, I did approximately the right thing, but the output was fuzzy and cut-off and so I didn't recognise it for what it was. So I spent quite some time trying to apply bandpass filters to the audio at different frequencies to see if the barely audible background chattering could be turned into something understandable. It could not.
The other thing I did wrong was turn up at what should have been the correct time to find the challenge post. ;-)
I tried to reconstruct the alphabet from the few available videos (that combine English audio with glyphs in the subtitles). That got me most of the letters, which in turn let me find the keyword, suffix, and from there a few of the numbers, but it wasn't enough for the prefix. It hadn't occurred to me that the whole alphabet had already been published in a single image, or what name I could use to search for it.
I used a tool but unfortunately it gave the wrong lower/upperbound of spectrum:( Thus on my image I really cannot see anything meaningful, neither the "interpreter girl" or the Nemesis Characters.
