New year, new Mission Day process
Mission Days have been fun and successful events, bringing Factions together and encouraging Agents to explore new cities. As we step into the new decade, we look forward to carrying on this success by supporting more Mission Days across the globe. We are excited to share with you the new Mission Day Guidelines and to open the application form for 2020!

2020 Application form: http://bit.ly/MissionDay2020Application
What’s new:
- No in-app registration
- No physical check-in
- No need for on-site venue
- Mission submission through application form
- Partnership recommended but not mandatory
For complete details, be sure to check out the Mission Day Guidelines, linked above.
If your city is hosting an Anomaly or a Hexathlon, we will prioritize applications to support Mission Days for these cities.
We look forward to your submission and making more discoveries in 2020!

How are badges awarded? Do you do the missions and then you automatically get the badge?
Never mind. Found it in the document.
You forget open guidelines access.
The guidelines document is asking for permission...
Me gusta. Thanks.

Are there any tips or extra guidelines if we want to do Mission Day weekends in neighboring cities (ie one Saturday and one Sunday)?
Great news! This will make the process easier!
So glad Mission Days will be back :))))
Will Europe get a "Select all -> Deny" again, like the last half of 2019? Or will it be worth it to put work into organizing a mission day this time?
- No in-app registration
- No physical check-in
- No need for on-site venue
Aka Spoofer Friendly Mission Days?
It sounds like this.
Or who wrote this guidelines didnt think in anything of that...
This is great news!
In terms of credit for completing the Mission Day, it's simply that 6 missions have been completed?
yes min 6 mission completed to get banner.
edit: meant badge ofc :)
Badge not banner, :)
I put together a guide to create Mission Day Maps in Google My Maps from the Mission Submission Form. If anybody is interested.

In the old guidelines there was a phased approached to submit partner, missions, and art work. In the current submission form all the fields are mandatory. And no changes allowed. So this means we have to do ALL the work up front, unlike previous years. . Once bitten, twice shy.. Last year all the European submissions was denied. Please give me some assurance that the work won’t be wasted.
At previous Mission Days it has been possible for mobility impaired players and their carers to obtain the Mission Day medal after completing a minimum of one MD Mission. Although there has never been exact guidelines for eligibility, it was always possible to communicate with POCs beforehand and consult with Niantic staff to confirm and subsequently receive the medal.
Now the medal process will be automated and MD events possibly run without any POC, how can mobility impaired players and their carers continue to receive the MD medal?
that should be stickied somewhere, well done!
Great day for spoofers
Thanks for the notice. I still don't see the huge changes for the application.
@NianticBrian now finally have an official Ingress telegram channel to provide us with this info, but we still need to get this info via community channels....
I don't understand this NIA company 🤷
I imagine he doesn't have access to it just like he doesn't have access to their Twitter accounts - it's really not on him.
Yeah, the "Official Ingress" Telegram channel is the 29th in my list of active chats. Five other Ingress news Telegram Channels have already posted this news.
So where’s the register? Like to sign up for these now...
Thank you for keeping Mission Day around, Niantic - it's my favorite event! Looking forward to planning one in Colorado for this summer
Does this means there is gonna be a lot more MD during the year than before?
Here in Brazil we usually got only 2 each year. It's a big country, I think 2 is really fewer than it can handle.
The changes to Mission Days seem great.
Too bad I haven't been on any Mission Day again (have been on 11 MDs so far) after the cool Mission Day logo-badge has been changed mid-game to that weird and ugly Pokémon Mansplaining Illustration. That totally broke my MD spirit.
Isn't that kind of like the egg and the hen? 🤔😂
But in contrast to the telegram channel you can answer and ask questions here 😉
I am happy about this news and these new and open communication channels of Niantic. I hope there will be accepted again many applications like 2018 and I wish you a lot of success. 👍️🍀
If your community need a free subdomain of missionday.info for your planned Mission Day and "Communication & information sharing", I will continue to support you in 2020. 😎
But please don't wait a few weeks or days before the planned date. 😳😋
Awesome, hopefully we could get something close to local.
If you find people in the community willing to do the work on the odd chance NIA approves the submission.
