Umbra Deploy Challenge

From December 20th, 1800 UTC to December 30th, 1800 UTC, we need your help in defeating Umbra. A global challenge has been issued to all agents to deploy 30,000,000 unique resonator slots before the Global Challenge window ends on December 30th.
For the duration of this special event, the following modifiers to resonator deployment will be in effect:
- 3X AP for final (8th) resonator slot deployed
- Each agent can deploy up to two L8 and two L7 resonators per portal
To counterbalance the effects on deploys, NEMESIS has ensured the following AP surge will also be in effect:
- 2X AP for resonators destroyed
- 2X AP for link destroyed
- 2X AP for field destroyed
A new metric will be enabled in your scanner at the start of the event. You may have to deploy your first Resonator in order for it to show up. As a reminder, this event is for deploys only. Upgrading a Resonator will not count as a deploy. Personal medals can be unlocked even if Global threshold isn't met
In addition, agents are able to unlock the following global reward by deploying at least thirty million resonators that will continue through Monday, January 6th, 1800 UTC:
- 3X AP for final (8th) resonator deployed
The First Saturday Bundle for 50 x L1 Resonators will be available to purchase during this event.

Didn’t we already defeat Umbra back in October?!!
So...fully deploy 180 portals yourself and you get the top badge? Easy. Will have it done in a few hours.
@NianticBrian Think you can bump up some numbers and offer us an Onyx badge for this?
Bronze = 15 fully deployed portals
Silver = 75 fully deployed portals
Blue? = 180 fully deployed portals.
Does each resonator slot on a portal only count toward the badge once? In other words, a single portal is only worth 8 deploys max? Or does recapturing during the event count for up to 8 more points?

This is going happen during Christmas? Alot of agents are going want to be home with there families not stressing out about having enough points for a badge.

I won’t be travelling far but should still manage to get the final medal.

It's to satisfy PoGo players whom cries and need gold medals. They need easy challenges.
Bitterest of OG bitter vets with 0 Pokemon Go interest, reporting in.
This one is pretty well-done and allows for multiple people to get the badge even without having to travel to other towns/cities, but while still having to get out and move for a while. It's pretty nicely balanced. No cynicism required.

Is this correct, for the highest tier badge u need to deploy a reso on 1440 unique portals? Visited 218 portals last week, but these are portals that i visit very often. So i would think 1440 would be a kind of challenge :p
😛 On 1 portal u can upgrade like 48 Times (or something like that, dont know the exact number anymore) so that would sound logic
Well, the 20th thru the 30th. So, yes, over Christmas. Unless you plan on partying all those days. Then, well...Party on Garth!
At least this challenge ends before IFS, so I don't accidently get to 1440 with IFS. What's with Niantic making badges so blue. First Nemesis: Umbra. Now this. In some other challenges, we could avoid the by going a notch higher. In this case, to avoid the blue badge, we underperform.
To clarify, the statement "As a reminder, this event is for deploys only. Upgrading a Resonator will not count as a deploy." refers only to the event scoring, and not the ability to deploy two 7s and 8s, correct? An Agent will still be able to upgrade a second R8 on a portal they've previously deployed.
Seeing the medal I would have called it "Loreal Deploy Challenge". 😜 🤣

My goal is "600". Bad days to try 1440 with all the family waiting you at home.
