Didn't @NianticBrian state that they were going to scale them up for the anomaly? Based on their numbers? I mean they know how many agents paid for tickets for which sites... They should know by now how much resources are required per agent... We had a field test to stress test stuffs... It really can't be that hard
That does not mean that they didn't underestimate the load on the servers. Still there is also the possibility that some disgruntled OGs may be attempting a DDOS attack. It would be perfect fuel to and already explosive situation and the people who are quick to complain would be none the wiser.
It's so lame that things got right 1 hour into the anomaly... seems like an off by one timezone error... interestingly the ornaments appeared at the right time :D

I paid for this damn s***t! Il
It's the servers. They were not ready for so many to be online and active at once.
Oh no, that must have been such a surprise for Niantic.

Serveur ou pas, le problème est que niantic se moque des joueurs

The same was happening in Antwerp as well btw
Either they did so and had problems or still somehow failed to do so, or @NianticBrianwe got lied to. Again.
