Field Test First Saturday Mashup

There was some thought yesterday that the Field Test format would make a really cool First Saturday event, with a few slight adjustments; I took that idea and ran with it:

Three tiers of awards, for basic participation at a fixed level, basic participation at a higher but still fixed level, and competitive. (So three scanner badges, one that ticks for each event, (cumulative with current FS badge) one that ticks for each second level score, and the shiniest badge that ticks for each competitive win.)

This could be a paid event, with first Saturday organizers who currently spend money on swag and prizes spending their money on event fees instead, and a transparently budgeted player org subsidizing fees for lower income countries/areas. Ideally Niantic would waive fees for the first event or two in a region so people could gauge interest risk-free, and scale fees thereafter by attendee count history. But always and forever free for players. (The more I think about what it would take to make this fair and accessible the more complicated it gets. Maybe I'm on the wrong path here. Better suggestions welcome.)

Media portals would need to be chosen carefully -- the basic six clumped close and **** accessible, the second tier more challenging, and the third tier designed to stretch those legs.

Add a badge category based on destruction. It's frustrating to destroy a bunch of portals just to give other players deploy slots. (I'm not salty about this personally because I ran out of resos yesterday, but other people get annoyed at the challenge sometimes. At least at a FS event you can win AP by just bursting.) It also balances out scoring opportunities in areas dominated by one faction -- the outnumbered faction gets a lot more stuff to destroy.

This should go without saying, but a more reliable scoring system, particularly for Trekker.

    Also in the Netherlands (Lelystad) has this remark made by serval agents there that the concept field test would be great for FS events (at least if prime would work/not fail :-p)

    I posted separately that some aspects of Field Test could and should be integrated with IFS, such as automated and live stats tracking, immediate results and immediate badge pushing. I understand that global stats and double AP would need to be done later.

    I think a Hexathlon-like event could be an event in its own right, maybe 3-4 times a year.
