Thank you for the info! See you on the field agents!
"At the Hexathlon events, you will have 30 minutes to hack the check-in portal to receive your instructions, then 90 minutes to compete in six individual challenges"
So that either means we just get a media drop or Niantic want to test a quest system 😊
SEXATHALON
Does the scope of this test include Niantic's ability to destabilize fields over the playbox?
Disclaimer: I am not even going to be within VRLA range of my local event on the 14th.
This looks like fun! Thank you for the information.
Can you clarify whether this event can only participate with Prime or both scanner app?
Redacted will probably be gone by then.
It is ment to test new mechanics and features. Does the objective of the test sound like you will be able to use Redacted?
Awesome, good time frame! See you in Stuttgart!
When is it foreseen the opening of registrations?
I see the events mapped already (in events page), but not linking anywhere.
Thanks
Does anyone know about the detail of those 6 challenge??
Do we need to gear up something or prepare like 1000 XMPs ??
Looks like they want to keep it secret until the event. I expect a loadout like for IFS, but keeping the ability to deploy full portals, might be useful.
Elite medals... Why? Why even give medals at all?
If you want people to a proper test for you than don't give a medal as an incentive, now you only get people that come for the medal.
When registering their city, pocs had to submit a playbox. Will only actions within the playbox be counted?
Can Niantic give an indication if any of the six actions will involve moving fast between different specified portals placed far apart? This would exclude many Ingressers - anyone who has difficulty moving fast, through injury, disability or other health condition, those with small children, etc. This information would be important to know before embarking on a trip to one of the test sites. Thanks.
To me it sounds like they in part are testing how the in-game media could work and be used to give quest objective.
Its been said the playbox has a 2km diameter which should mean youbdont have to cover a huge distance doing the 6 tasks ( though with doubling back etc could still be several kms easy).
Personally I will be aiming to get to my check-in portal the moment it goes live, to have ample of time (45mins) to work out the 6 tasks and get yourself prepared.
Redacted will still be operational and should be able to be used for this event per Niantic's stated time line.
In my opinion wouldn’t of thought that using redacted would be any use for the field test. To get a better accurate outcome only prime should be used. Otherwise I don’t see the point TBH 🤷♀️.
Because prime stinks? I mean I will use it because I want to play, but I'm quite happy we don't have to use it for this. I'm glad you find it good.
Niantic : "This is an individual rather than Faction-based event; there are no Faction POCs." => it was a real pleasure to apply then to be thanked like this 😘 (I'm a poc, well, ex-poc)
The Field Test is to try out entirely new scanner interactions, none of which would be supported by Redacted. Have Prime installed before you head out unless you want the hit to your data cap.
Well since you need to use Prime to Register for the event natural you would need to continue to use Prime to Participate in the Event.
It says it on the event which is why I'm not doing it anymore. I was looking forward to one last event before prime and forced retirement die to prime sucking, but oh well. I'm glad many people like prime, I think it is a terrible disaster that ruined the game I've loved playing for 6 years.
