It's interesting how Ingress is like the only multiplayer game that DOESN'T have it's community base using Discord, at this point. Pogo is on Discord, Wizards is on Discord...Ingress? Telegram mostly. Slack. Freaking Hangouts, still, even.
I guess some folks don't like Discord? I'm in an IRC channel for Ingress. Some of us are just #oldschool
It shouldn't be entirely surprising. Ingress predates Discord by a few years, so communities formed elsewhere, and Discord doesn't provided a particularly compelling reason to go through the hassle of migration for mobile gaming (unlike some other types of gaming, where things like streaming tie in are quite useful).
Great for recruiting the folks who play more modern games like Pogo and WizU, though.
Isn't that one reason a lot of "OG" Ingress players quit, because they don't like the other Niantic games and hate Prime? lol
I will say I've been using IRC for over 10 years and still have an active chat there, we made a Discord server for the people who are on it for other servers, complete with a bot to pass messages back and forth, it's interesting. We need more cross-chat-platform bots so people can use whatever they prefer and be in all the things.
