Wow, thanks niantic. That means you're gonna shutdown the Niantic wayfarer community page too right? No, just ingress community? Cool ... Nothing like saying you don't care about your players by sending them to one of the most toxic places for game information.
Niantic laid off a bunch of people, now closing avenues of contact / promotions, and deleting everything, so yet again, searching for information will be a pain just like when G+ went away. Telling us to use Reddit? They can't use it for support, or for when an agent has an issue logging in. That won't work in the app. sigh. When's the sunset date for Ingress then? If you can't afford to have even basic forums, then the game is hurting beyond badly.
Niantic doesn't use the forums for anything. Really no sense in keeping it open. More logical to just shut it down and avoid any negative backlash from players.
move to reddit ? lol its a sick place really yeah lets merge there.. what a joke why would they suddenly host AMAs there but not here can someone explain that ?... but yeah they abandoned the forums long ago easy to say its a failure now when they didnt even show any energy here... and by deleting everything soon it just shows they dont see any real value even keep all posts as archived.. delete all trace this place ever existed better
wow so thia as in no longer works at niantic ingress ?
I'm more confused that if you look at the Ingress forum announcement and then the Wayfarer forum announcement, they are paradoxes.
They really couldn't add Ingress, the smallest of the communities, to the system? Brian, I don't want to look at X especially when you have to log in now to view anything. You can make the forum read only for the new platform with Ingress...you really don't have anyone who can do that or even grab the news content?
Thanks for nothing Niantic. Shut down the community forums in order to grow and improve the game? Sounds likely. Just trying to remove the only place where we can Vent our frustration at the LACK of improvement or growth. Mind you it's been 4 years so nobodies expecting anything anymore. Just sell the game to a company who cares for the love of god
Is anyone crawling this forum so we can have a mirror to refer to? (I know the announcement refers to WayBackMachine, but that's imperfect at the best of times.)
When Google+ closed they gave us more than three weeks' notice AND a tool to download all your Google+ stuff. With Niantic: no one needs this, let's just delete it.
Uh, Google announced a date and then pushed it up 3 months because of an apparent security risk. A lot was lost, the tool was just anything tied to G+ which wasn't anything readable to display. The tool was actually just an extension of the Google Account Takeout.
Well, I was honestly waiting for Niantic to announce this.
Seriously, is anyone surprised at this point? Niantic stopped caring about this forum long time ago. And the last sticked post was… just for announcing the closure of that NFT thing that nobody asked for.
But why the “read only” part? What’s the point on doing that if they’re just gonna shut it down a few days later?
Sad to hear, though it was coming eventually, but "use the subreddit" is so laughably out of touch as a replacement but also on point for Niantic's history of miscommunication. Especially since there are even more bitter players there happily down voting anything another faction does than in here. I guess though most people who worked on Ingress and tried to interact have left the company anyway.
In app support chat is largely useless, always been a pita to use and last I used it could only have one issue open at once.
Going to be impossible to deal with cheaters now, I guess that's how this game's final decline will be marked.
Extra sad to hear that the forum's will just be totally deleted, so there goes all game discussions, existing problem solving and history of events and activities.
At least Niantic is finally admitting that they can't be bothered to properly run a forum though, given the ridiculous restrictions for warnings with no explanation ever what you were warned for.
Is there not the option of having Ingress migrate to Vanilla Communities as some of the other titles apparently are?
Reddit's a terrible choice in my opinion. It's more searchable than Discord, sure, but it's not got the level of functionality of a proper forum. Plus it's a third party that's already had a lot of bad press and alienated many of its most passionate users/volunteer moderators over the last year or so.
Giving Ingress a section of a general 'Niantic Games' community would still be a way to cut costs, if that's what this is about, and would generate goodwill among players.

What did i say to all of you? Niantic dont want to communicate with us.
Thanks for nothing

Pikmin Bloom is also moving to the new platform. I imagine Monster Hunter Now will too. So it is just Ingress that is not
Which is the oddest thing.
EDIT: To prevent any additional confusion on here

Thia got fired? Ouch

now the name of the next anomaly makes sense: buried memories

Ugh.
Since Niantic doesn't want to use the forum, they could at least leave the forum for reading, there are years of history of the game and the players.
I haven’t seen anything to see Thia has been let go.
I think they’re implying that as @NianticThia is the Community Specialist for Ingress, what’s the future of her role without a centralised community?
I assume the contract ends with Vanilla Forums as that’s what hosts all the rest so they can’t pay for Ingress to just maintain theirs.
Last time to push the podcast on the forums I guess.

Confirmed!! Ingress is one step closer to being killed!!! Really, don’t renew your CORE membership anymore!! They don’t want you!!!

There's a podcast?
Well that sucks.

Goodluck everyone, thanks for all the salty fish.
We really need a state of the game blog post:(
I looked thias history now, she last posted march 2023.... so 1 year no posts here....
No posts on her tg channel since Feb 13.
She retweeted a ingress post on March 12th.
@NianticThia is still working at Niantic, on Ingress.
I now give Ingress two years tops, before it also goes the way of the forum.
The honest active player basis is dwindling and the number of people cheating their way to 'success' seems to be increasing.
If I wasn't so invested in Ingress, I would never touch another NIA game again.
Is there not the option of having Ingress migrate to Vanilla Communities as some of the other titles apparently are?

so the rumors fired by moog are false then?
