Concerning future of First Saturdays & Second Sundays.

First of all... First Saturday is a dying breed that has been heavily damaged by virtual events thats been on for far too long. Players stopped going once gets the onyx badge, zero motivation to actually wintrade these days - only socialise or get uniques.... At least for my area where we usually get solid 10+ res but inconsistent ENL numbers, usually only 3.
Solution? Change the badge/event name & get rid of first saturday restriction therefore make it an actual community day to be in line with other NIA games (Pikmin, Pokemon etc).
Second Sunday, promising concept that can use bounties but just a silly name. Change it as well....

Niantic did have a joined up day, where all the events for Pikmin Bloom/Ingress/Pokémon GO happened on the same weekend, so I thought they would add an Ingress Community Day but they seem to have abandoned their “Niantic Community Day”
as there’s no events page accessible here and even when you look it is not updated.
I think we could have it as an additional event, not as a First Saturday replacement. Especially now that you could be assigned special Bounties during it. Some months end up very sparse Ingress wise, where after FS & SS, that’s kind of it, whilst other Niantic games are doing something most days to keep their player base engaged.
I added ideas here on what a Community Day could be for Ingress.
Agent Day!!!
I do like the enjoy idea of FS, tho sadly in my community, there isn't much keen agents to join...
The idea to drive lots of km for a dead mobile game is not a great idea. I would love to see more stuff i can do where iam.
yeah and if xfac relations are toxic which they are in many regions its a dead race
Niantic’s Community Day was a failure due to something most us already knew; It was too focused on PoGO + the lack of comunication with the community.
As long Niantic refuses to improve that, making something similar is an absolute no-no.
Making SS as bounties-based event it does not sounds bad, tho. Always doing just six missions feels a bit repetitive, tbh.
Between this and having the onyx medal finished, I'm pretty good on not spending any time or fuel on medal ticks that add up to nothing but a couple hours of double AP in close proximity to agents I more or less avoid entirely. Such a hard pass...
I doubt making the day less predictable (and thus harder to plan for) is going to increase attendance.
PoGo players show up for community days because they get rare Pokemon and stuff. Ingress just doesn't have that.
It isn't dead.
You can't find a way to pull the plug and find something else that brings beauty and value to your life.
I mean that's your preference. I've been participating in the physical FS again because there's been people from both factions I haven't seen in years due to covid.
Absolutely my preference. I’m not an OG agent and while there is some agents I wouldn’t mind catching up with, there is plenty I’m good with never seeing. There is nothing about the current FS that is enticing to me and that’s the point of this conversation and why I’m sharing my perspective..
Community Day bounties would be a cool idea.
If you show up to an in-person IFS you get a passcode with KC and Apex in it.
Its nice, if your community has it. We had an in person one, with a decent turnout but just barely enough for credit, next month an ENL POC couldn't do it, so we didn't have one. I fear the next one they will end up having not enough agents for the credit, then it will be doomed from there on. Guess time will tell.
Having First Saturday events should still go ahead even if there aren't many people who can make it in person
When agents don't get credit for doing it, the amount of people who might do it, falls off, and then you get stuck with a few folks if that. Then the POC's will quit wanting to expend the energy/time to do it, and bye bye it goes.
Just change format to automatic battle beacons that u must hack and u get tick regardless how many on each team comes.
Automatic, but still require group photo. Cut the amount of agents required by half. We might be able to still pull off in person events. Ten is really reaching hard in many places. If we don't have one locally, closest one to me is about 4.5 hours drive away (240 - 300 miles away). Which means I won't be doing it unless I already plan on being semi near to that area ahead of time. Even then likely not. I'm currently at 49 for IFS. I still show up for local ones when I can to ensure other agents get their credit.
Several years ago we had demo'd that for an Auckland FS, and while I liked the idea, everyone else did not. As well as creating a tonne of lag
Arguably, it has been quite a while and I've been to Anomaly sites with nearly every, single, portal, having a battle Beacon all at once and several hundred players.
No appreciable lag was noticed.
So perhaps it is something for the Ingress team and Fevgames to decide if it is something worth discussing about again?
I seen It must of been tested again last month (or earlier)..... somewhere
