Shard Night was a ton of fun!

I attended the Shard Night in Bielefeld, Germany today and honestly speaking, I think it legitimately was the most fun I had during an "anomaly"! Without divulging too much cause of OpSec, the event was a lot less stressful than normal anomalies and having it only be an hour also helped in not running out of gear or getting too bored. With the smaller scale it also really felt like your actions made a difference, especially if you just threw the link that the Shard travels through or took the portal down just in time to prevent the jump.
One thing I'd love to have changed though is the way you ultimately get the badge in the end. While it wasn't a problem for me and my team, we had at least one Agent that couldn't get it because all the Battle Beacons were already fully charged and upgraded so they couldn't get their interaction in. Adding a simple hack as an interaction would ensure that everyone get the badge :)

Hmmm sounds like fun, do you have a "scanner" video of how the shard night was back then? I'm curious what the mechanism is like?

I thought the badge goes to the top 50 fielders for the cycle, in each faction? I guess I don't know the difference in "Shard Night" and "Connected Cells".
Shard Night and Cell Battle are different events. You get the badge if you interact with one NIA-deployed battle beacon during shard night in one of the chosen cities.

Yes, the shard night in Bielefeld was a great event. I liked it much better than the battle beacon anomalies during the pandemic.
As regards the problem with obtaining the badge, it is really bad luck that if there is no opposition agent to attack the portal and give an opportunity for recharging. And using a virus is no option either if the portal was flipped in the previous hour.
Niantic should have made the battle beacons count towards the shard night score, to give both factions a reason to interact.
I found it a bit confusing because the shards were appearing and dissapearing all the time, you need an intel to help you with this. Also it takes a lot of local intelligence to build an strategy to fight, this doesnt work as usual shards but I still liked it.
