The single mission bounty is not a very good task.
in General
The complete a single Mission task should go. This doesn't make sense to do a single mission. I have completed over 3,500 missions. I have almost done less than 12 single missions. This is not a reasonable task because missions should be multiples of 6.

I like this task. So more Agenten will submit New Missions and Banners....
I've completed over 5000 and I agree wholeheartedly. I'm also hearing from some that it appears this must be a new mission. If that's accurate, it's even worse. If I can re-do a 6-mission banner for the bounty, then I can tolerate that. But if I have to go out and find a new mission every time this bounty appears, I'm going to run out of available missions very fast.
As a fellow "missionary", amen brother. Some days I don't have time to do 6. And to do a single (if I can find one) would require me to do 5 more to keep a row before I can do another banner. And eventually I'll run out of convenient singles. Hate this.
Or give us more mission slots to submit for such occasions ... 150 is not enough 🤨
The requirement to do one new mission will inevitably lead to people unpublishing well honed and much loved banners to put up a set of convenient short missions that they can do and then unpublish, and create new ones to replace them, leading to churn for players and more work for mission reviewers.
I know people who have done every mission within 50 miles of their home.
There is also a privacy issue -- many people don't like being forever geotagged by missions and refuse to do them.
(Unlike many mission addicts I make an explicit point of doing single missions at times. Then I'm left scrambling to finish a row of 6 before the next banner. I've foregone some of my IFS banners because I was "out of alignment" -- finding single missions to do can be *hard*. I'm already trying to decide which popular banner to unpublish to make room.)
i love seeing all the ruined missionbanners at profiles. LOOOL
please keep it NIA :-)
Players should look at making their own 6 Mission Banners so to allow them to not mess up their profiles with this objective for a single Mission
Personally I think this a reasonable low barrier for new players for a single mission
I havent done many banners my self, because I thought the possibility of a nice collection of banners on the profil was ruined when I was level2.
I know many agents from both faction, treasures their collection of amazing banners, and doesnt want to ruin them with single missions, but the same time this same agents wants to complete their daily quests. So maybe there is a possibility to change just that quest into something else, like upgrade resos or something?
I say leave it. Bounties aren't meant to motivate people who do stupid giant banners anyway. They're meant to motivate agents who don't play enough.
you just want everybody to have Burlis in their profile 😜
A lot of couples play. Hopefully Niantic knows who plays together, and will give either both or neither the mission task.
I play with my husband. Even if I had the slots, and built 6 new easy missions - if he gets the mission task some days, and I do other days - we're just not going to do those missions several times a week, when either of us gets the task.
We enjoy Ingress together. We don't want it to be a solitary game, where one of us goes off to do one mission (yes I meant six) with frequency.
We'll just pass on those days.
Maybe they could assign the mission task only on Second Sundays? We go on mission adventuress then.
I wonder if they could eventually do “joint tasks”.
Go to someone “scan this QR code” and you get a harder task such as Destroy 100 enemy links, but it counts your progress together, so in your scenario you could destroy 72 and your partner destroy 28 and this completes the task for you both.
This could be easily fixed by several ways, like:
-“Re-roll” option: In PoGO you can remove missions you don’t like and then get new ones by spinning pokestops. This could be translated into Ingress as an option to re-roll a mission an agent doesn’t likes. But of course, only 1 re-roll per day to prevent abuse.
-Mission medal sorting: A long time requested feature, the ability to re-arrange our mission medals. Or even just a toggle to temporally disable new obtained medals being added to the list.
-Making it as a Second Sunday exclusive task.
I supose Niantic expects us just to keep doing that task every time it pop-ups with a same 6 banner mission until banners are aligned again, then rinse and repeat. But it’s just not cool.
I've done all the missions in my area. But I'm not that worried about it. Sometimes you just can't do everything. It's fine by me.
I agree. For agents who collect mission arts or agents who are on holiday, they will need to find missions which they can complete just to complete a bounty task. In some location, mission might not be that prominent for agents to complete in rural areas.
It's true you can skip the task for the day but it's a little annoying when you are unable to complete a bounty due to reasons which is not under your control.
It can be any mission. I have a group of 6 easy missions I made at my local park for second Sunday. I just redid one of those since I'm going to redo them all Sunday anyway
Banners are so overrated. When I was on my cruise last year I just wanted to do one and done souvenir missions because we were on a tight schedule with guided tours. It wasn't until I was almost directly on top of the Coliseum in Rome I found a non-banner mission I could do to commemorate my visit there and it wasn't even in Italian.
Add the option to re-roll a bounty once per day please, Niantic. This Mission bounty is not good for the Mission enthusiasts.
Yep, I got the single mission task for today and... not even going to bother. We all know for a lot of people, this means having to do 6 missions on a dime. If you are local and not traveling when the task pops up, there's a good chance you'll have to do missions you've already done before (which to me is not desirable). I like to plan out missions. Not jump when Niantic says jump. I like the idea of being able to trade it for a different task, but in the meantime these will just go as uncompleted tasks for me unless it's already in my plans.
The duality of Ingress.
When missions were added in 2014, single missions were the thing as a means of showing exploration. It wasn't until a few months later that doing banners were more popular. Banners of 6, 12, 18, etc.
I did enjoy making single missions because I could focus a theme on something small versus trying to stretch it out to 6 missions. I've also made banners and love having each one focused to specific areas. Really comes to preference.
I think the one mission is a good faith attempt to not have a system focus on random portals. I think something like hacking a unique portal could replace it but you can already see the disadvantages of that. Tough call.
You're not obligated to do every task.
Some people enjoy doing single missions. I rarely have the patience to grind my way through a banner, but I love doing one or two souvenir missions when I travel... the most recent missions on my profile are San Francisco, New York, Emeryville (near SF), Hannover, London, and Palo Alto, and if I hadn't run into travel chaos coming home from Las Vegas last weekend I'd have another Vegas mission after the SF one.
I would go so far as to say that the people who strictly do banner missions are a minority. They tend to be vocal and hardcore about banners but they're not the average Ingress player.
I actually suggested a simular thing! Like several steps of a stair, where you could choose solomissions or joint missions. And completing one mission would open up next. But for a longer period, and of a little bit harder difficultydegree. But I think it would be good for local communities as well as for agents to develope and learn new things
Missions is not cool. Who does singles when your profile is full of banners? Means basically going for 6 missions at least. That's a big challenge for a potentially daily activity
Unfortunately, the mission banner game has de-valued single missions. It's hard enough to find a mission that isn't part of a banner, and even harder to find a single mission that is reasonably challenging and takes more than 30 minutes to complete. And it's difficult to play the banner game without 3rd party services like bannergress. Originally, missions weren't meant to be played in multiples of six.
They better change it to walk x km instead.
My first thought about the mission thing was that a lot of players - especially women - would not feel safe doing a mission after work on a dark winter night. I stopped my mission last first Saturday because I had messed up and taken too long and the next part would've involved walking inside a park in the dark. So even if there are enough missions in your area - and for the majority of players there won't be - there is also a safety issue with doing them and I don't think anything should be put in the game which pushes people to do something unsafe.
How about if you are a C.O.R.E subscriber, you have the option to swap out one of the 'difficult' Research Bounty tasks to another random task.
That would then be another added benefit of C.O.R.E subscription as well.
Bounties like "Destroy 2 Enemy Links" are tough for those small town players who have no opponents, but nobody's mentioned that because banner players only think about themselves.
Not everything in Ingress has to be about you, gang.
