Can't throw a particular link. Am I missing something?

Yesterday I tried to link https://intel.ingress.com/intel?pll=37.240454,-121.788552 to https://intel.ingress.com/intel?pll=37.240454,-121.788552 but it would tell me "No Linkable Portals".
I don't think it was because of the number of incoming links, because I was able to throw from other nearby portals after that. Just that one was giving me problems.
I don't think there are any blockers, even if the lane is pretty packed. And similar nearby portals are even close, angle wise, and had no problems.
I'll try again in a few hours, but wondering if I missed something obvious or some change I've missed (I didn't play for four years and only recently got back into the game).
Thanks,
mrc

Did you try drawing it on the Intel page to check for blocks?
Your links are the same portal twice...
But the most obvious answer might be: do you have a key?
I did, both stock and IITC. But, I'm not sure how to read stock. It wasn't clear to me what the big X on the line meant: Dismiss or can't link, even when I did it to portals next to each other. And didn't have a chance to research it before posting (then taking the dog out).
That was how I knew the lane appeared clear.
Oops. Sorry about the mis-paste.
But, yeah, I have 100+ keys to the destination portal, and they were the only ones I had out at the time. As mentioned, then next portals I visited linked fine. Just not that one, which was odd.
FTR, the destination was supposed to be https://intel.ingress.com/?pll=37.242591,-121.802535 (currently 108 incoming links).
When I was out just now, I was able to link. I did notice that the +10m move request I put in yesterday had already been processed (yay!), which broke that link.
Maybe I had done something silly and accidentally created a splinter field that I couldn't see, but happened to be in the way. But, all is good now, so, yay!

Given the new information , it's possible that either your scanner, your keys or Niantic's servers hadn't completely updated the new info for the portal (keys for instance aren't updated instantaneously), and it wasn't finding the portal.
If it is that, it's an extremely rare bug that's caused by portal moves
For next time, the X means dismissing the draw, crosslinks are marked with red if you draw over them.
