Cryptic Memories: Global Op [Discussion]
Agents,
An approaching XM operation of profound significance has been detected.
Some details of this operation have been marked for disclosure – others remain classified, for now.
From Friday, 12 January 2024, 17:00 UTC to Monday, 5 February 2024, 17:00 UTC a new Events metric - Cryptic Memories Global Op - will become visible in Scanners under the ‘All Time’ tab.
Agents may increment this metric during the Operation Window (the times listed above) by performing one of the following actions:
- Destroying a Resonator: 1 point
- Deploying a Resonator: 2 points
- Upgrading a Resonator deployed by another Agent: 2 points
A 2-tiered medal will be rewarded to Agents who reach the following thresholds:
- Tier 1 (Bronze): 1,500 points
- Tier 2 (Silver): 15,000 points
Participating in this Operation alone will not earn Agents the Cryptic Memory Anomaly medal.
The Faction with the greater number of Agents achieving Bronze or Silver tiers of the medal will earn a point-based advantage in the Cryptic Memory Anomaly Series, which runs from January through March 2024.
Two subsequent disclosures will take place:
In approximately one week from the time of this disclosure, visual analysis of the Cryptic Memories Global Op medal will be made public.
In approximately two weeks from the time of this disclosure, additional intel related to the Cryptic Memories Anomaly Series, including additional information about the point-based advantage of the Cryptic Memories Global Op and all other supporting operations will be made public.
Comments
That mean isolated players can earn point but will nevers get the medal just because they played alone ...
And first of all what mean "participation in this opération alone" ??
I think we need more information about when we will not be considered as "alone players".
It's not clear !!!
It means this badge isn't the anomaly badge.
What Niantic means is that this event will award a different medal than for the Anomaly with the same name. The phrase "participation in this operation alone" does not mean that agents cannot be alone, but that just participating in this event wont award you the Anomaly medal, only the event medal.
Interesting, even though I'm still tired of playing after the previous event 😮💨
Highest tier is a bit high, many parts its freezing cold... crazy 15k for highest
but good they do events atleast
This is better than the Cassandra Neutraliser challenge event we had a few years ago, as the focus is on building instead of just smashing.
Minimum of 5,000 portals to be captured and fully deployed for Silver
Destroy unique portal, thats horibble event. And that time another fac make ops to do not capture any portal.
As well as not shutting out North America from the q1 anomaly cycle.
1,000 portals from scratch. That's a do a banner on second Sunday+ day, then Day-to-day stuff for a month.
My mistake a minimum of 625 portals to destroy 8 resonators and deploy 8 resonators
Hmm, thinking about if Machina will be a tiny bit more prolific for non city folk
It's 15K resonators, not 15K portals. At my current rate it will take me less than two weeks to get that just from smashing + single-capping, but I'll admit that I've been playing like a maniac since I recursed. (I am blessed with a large urban area, high portal density, and active opponents.)
Can we a a challenging tier like 150k points ?
No.
yeah genius, lets make a challenge a handful of agents will ever achieve
that's what a challenge is ? otherwise it's a task?
why should top tier always be easy instead of pushing hard ?
I like this event more than the previous one, it engages me more to play
@mortuus What's wrong with creating a stretch goal?
They've had some challenges where I did the lowest tier and that was it because the thing I had to do a lot of wasn't something I enjoyed. There have also been challenges where the second tier was trivially easy for me. 150K seems a bit high to me but something like 1,500/15,000/50,000 would be fun. There's zero impact to people who don't want to do it.
Portal density is what always makes the challenge either easier or harder.
This challenge is really if you have the time to deploy.
Or weather related. This weekend is a high of like 5F I think for the midwest. We won't be above freezing for more than a week. It's not the time, its the weather. If it were warmer, even 40F I'd be out hitting the parks deploying like crazy. But not when its hypothermia weather.
You have until February 5th, agent.
A little bit over 3 weeks.
I just need a warm day to hammer most of it out. Easy peasy
10 day forecast for Oulu, Jyväskylä and Espoo in Finland, in Celsius:
Bottom rows: "Weather feels like".
And there is this:
The Global Op medals have now been shown.
nice badge just weird choice of colors.
Dislike that they at niantic actively try to steer towards a certain desired level of activity to get a medal. Sojourner I think is the right level if you have to demand activity at times you did not choose yourself.
Doubt many causal players will even get the first tier of badge depending where live silver feels a bit too high for a global event.
With a foot of snow on the ground with more coming, this one won't be easy. But piter pater. Earning a medal by playing the game is much better than buying a medal.
There's nothing wrong with not getting the medal at all if it's not something that you want to or are able to do. They aren't mandatory, and they don't confer anything other than a decoration on your profile.
FOMO is bad in Ingress
Got bronze not long ago, I’ll stop here.
My area is partially full of Machina, so that makes a lot of free destroyed resonators. A bunch of them are at L8 and mostly decayed, which also makes them as a free L8 XMP resuply. BUT, weather is not helping and I am wasting too much resonators. Good luck out there.
This is a good challenge, with levels well in the scope for casual players to play a little more than they might not otherwise do.
