Removing POI on "restricted property"?
In the neighboring town, there are a pair of POI located on a private residential condo complex. The entire perimeter of the property is enclosed by a tall fence covered in "private property", "No Trespassing", "24 Hour Surveillance" and "Trespassers will be prosecuted." These POI were created by a player whom lives in the complex, and is incredibly territorial about them. When other players have interacted with them, they have received threatening messages in local chat groups threatening to have law enforcement called for trespassing (messages have since been taken down). These portals constitute a point of contention and harassment in the local community, and it is unfair to players who happen to stumble upon these portals unaware of the vitriol they are going to encounter. There are other portals in the nearby community, this person's entitlement to needing to have POI they can reach from their couch only seems to cause consternation in the local community. Several people have reported the POI via Ingress, but have received denial messages. Is there any manner in which we can escalate this issue to have it resolved at a higher level? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Unfortunately if the objects the Portals are representing are still there, they are valid Portals. Despite being limited access, they are still considered eligible.
People take this game and things like that very hard and go too far the wrong way. If the person is threatening in Comms, report it to Niantic. If they are actively threatening in chats or IRL, involve the authorities.
Unfortunately, people are like that and you won't be able to convince them to behave otherwise. If everyone (on both factions) are tired of dealing with the person, remove them from chats and block them in Comms. Block and move on, that's really the only recommendation we can give.
Nothing you can do. Portal sounds legit. The behavior is concerning but nothing Niantic can do about it. This game brings out some terrible people. Just ignore them.
public access is not a requirement for NIA.
only prp are not ok
They need to change that rule.
Anything you need to be an employee for or require work in a specific field that allows access should be gone. (ie employees, couriers, guards etc).
Niantic blocked pogo spawns on military bases so they have the ability to at least stop gameplay on bases but they don't implement it in Ingress. It seems having a map with the latitude and longitude of everything on a military base including pictures and scans of the location accessible to anyone in the world isn't a big deal. Why Niantic hasn't been asked to stop is beyond me.
Determining every other private access location is almost impossible. Niantic can't know exactly what locations have private access. That's been a problem from the beginning and does give unfair advantages to some players. It's not a fair game but it's still a game. You just can't worry about things like that. If the area has fields you can't take down then you have to adjust your style of gameplay. The game has never been fair.
Nothing wrong with the portals. Adapt your gameplay and pick your battles
i really agree, but somehow nia like lame anchors.
place that closes and need good timing are ok.
place no one except employee can access are just dumb. no one will change job just for that.
You can always get creative in ways to access the property:
Attend open houses for condos in the complex or request showings for "For Sale" listings in the complex. Condo complexes often will have a flood of these going on at any given time.
Create an account for Uber Eats, Doordash, etc. and only take calls for that specific complex. Bonus, if you want to play ingress in certain towns, you could also take orders that lead you towards your objective for the day and expense your mileage/gas for playing the game in between deliveries.
Visit bars/coffee shops local to the complex. You will likely find someone who lives there and can befriend them into the game. Visit anytime you like, or get the person in the complex on your team to **** off their neighbor for added hilarity.
If there are on-prem guards, ask them if you could take a tour around the location. I actually used to stop at a local university and ask guards if I could do a lap around campus in my car to play Pokemon Go. As long as you're respectful, state your intent, and explain what you're trying to do, many of them will have no problems letting you pass. ESPECIALLY if you tell them there's a guy who gets all pissy about people attacking the portal. They put up with so much from complex residents, they would love an outlet to get one back at them.
Social engineering works!
Now, if you actually want to appeal this decision, you'll need to create a thread over at the Wayfarer forums. You generally have to provide proof the property is indeed private. Most cities have public GIS information databases which state the boundaries of a property, who owns the property, and the zoning regulations. These are admissable as evidence in Wayfarer reports. If the streets are technically public streets, you're likely out of luck. If they're privately owned, might help your case. Depends on how the GIS shows things.

Update: Here is the location in question:
@LordDojang get a buddy with a boat/kayak... Really? Can't get that down?
XMP8 have a range of 170 meters... Both of these are less than 30 meters off public access water.
There's a bunch of locations none of that will work for.
Like mine sites and military bases. Military bases in AU it's actually forbidden to take non authorised photos so the portals should not be there in the first place.
Mine sites- unless an employee or contractor AND taken site induction training, no way in hell you are getting in.

Literally 2km away (path in purple):
Company is a ghost ship at this point, only Ingress is adversely affected by these malicious PoI and the old team didn't have the balls to deal with it. No ones left to even turn off the 8km links at this point.
Dear Ingress Prime Community,
I want to address the recent concerns raised in a forum post regarding certain portals in our local area. While the author highlighted legitimate concerns about private residential condo complex portals, it's crucial to provide a more comprehensive view of the situation.
Firstly, the author reported legitimate portals, unlike their own house portal, "Wickham Ave little free library," which was rightfully removed due to a fraudulent submission. This raises questions about the author's credibility in evaluating portal submissions and their understanding of portal criteria.
Moreover, it's worth noting that the two other unnamed agents who had portals at or near their houses also had those portals rightfully removed due to fraudulent submissions. This underscores a broader issue of dishonest portal submissions that extends beyond the mentioned individual.
Additionally, the author's disdain for agents who use hard-to-reach portals not easily accessible from the street further highlights a subjective approach to gameplay. This, coupled with their refusal to engage with the Enlightened team and their alleged manipulation of other agents for personal benefit, indicates a troubling approach to gameplay. Suspected use of multiple accounts further compounds concerns about fair play and ethical conduct. This suspected second account seems to be most active when needed to to deploy VR hack mods and high level resonators to help the author raise portal levels on only the most strategic portals he seeks keys for.
It's essential to foster a positive and cooperative environment within the Ingress community. The screenshots I possess serve as evidence to support these claims, and they are available if needed, to provide clarity and transparency.
In conclusion, we encourage the author to reevaluate their gameplay and consider the impact of their actions on the local community. The Ingress community in Orange County values communication, cooperation, and fair play, and we aim to maintain a welcoming environment for all players.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best regards,
Agent Tylenoltommy
Konntower and Tylenoltommy have excellent points.
By your criteria pretty much any point unapproved by opponents and many more in the area should be removed.
As others have said, ingress is not perfect, but these portals are legitimate. I’ve also noticed reports and takedowns on other legitimate portals in the area, which were apparently successful. Legitimate portals are gone. I would hope the players of Orange County can rise above spiteful reporting of portals, as well as nomination of fake portals, to make the game more simple and enjoyable for everyone. It is a game. Peace and prosperity
It's funny, these types of portals are what destroys the game. But Niantic don't care.
Yup
Eh, niantic has destroyed the game by nerfing BAFs.
No one should have that access at all.
" Changed it, Yes.
Nerfed it, No.
No hiding behind portals only you can access. Time to move, and assert your dominance."
