In a stunning display of scientific prowess, earlier this year, Akira Tsukasa and Devra Bogdanovich joined forces to launch an **** against the Machina Portal infection. Their experiment brought a fleeting moment of respite, only to be shattered by a resurgence of this formidable foe.
The scientific pursuit has not ended. Newly acquired intelligence unveils an audacious experiment these two visionaries have set in motion. A precarious venture—one with the potential to reverberate not only through the realm of Machina but to the very essence of our own reality itself.
Should their experiment succeed, we may find ourselves faced with transformation: Our universe transcending a boundary and propelling us, in 2024, into an alternate dimension laden with unknown perils and possibilities.
The details of this experimental operation are as follows:
From Wednesday, 6 December 2023, 00:00 UTC to Saturday, 6 January 2024, 00:00 UTC, earn the Chronos medal by accumulating Event Points through the following qualifying actions:
- 1 Overclock Hack Point = 2 Chronos Points
- 1 Portal Capture = 1 Chronos Point
- 1 Mod Deploy = 1 Chronos Point
A new metric “Operation Chronos Points” will be added to your Agent Profile for the duration of Operation Chronos to help you monitor your own progress.
The Chronos Medal is a 2-tiered medal:
- Silver: 5,000 points
- Bronze: 500 points
Overclock Hack Points function as follows:
- 5 Overclock Hack points for each successful Reality Calibration
- 1 Overclock Hack points for getting all Glyphs correct on a 1-Glyph Overclock sequence
- 2 Overclock Hack points for getting all Glyphs correct on a 2-Glyph Overclock sequence
- 4 Overclock Hack points for getting all Glyphs correct on a 3-Glyph Overclock sequence
- 8 Overclock Hack points for getting all Glyphs correct on a 4-Glyph Overclock sequence
- 15 Overclock Hack points for getting all Glyph corrects on a 5-Glyph Overclock sequence
- If an agent achieves successful Reality calibration, but does not successfully complete a Glyph sequence, they will earn the Overclock Hack points for the calibration (5 Overclock Hack points)
- If an agent does not achieve Reality calibration, but successfully completes a Glyph sequence, they will earn the Overclock Hack points for the Glyph sequence (up to 15 Overclock Hack points)
- A successful 5-Glyph Overclock Hack with successful Reality Calibration may earn an Agent 20 Overclock Hack Points

Wow what the. Hope all can do overlock in their phone because mine can't even Scan a portal. My phone doesn't support by AR.
Sure glad that they made it so everyone has access to a bunch of overclockable portals, right?
If not, that's an awful lot of portals to try to capture and mod.
I was in the process of making a ton of overclock portals in my area until suddenly my phone couldn't do scans anymore. It was getting old so I replaced it with a brand new phone which apparently also can't scan.
Verifying that a big whitelist check should probably be done before this event
5000 point for silver? Thats extremely hard for agent just choosing capture or deploy mod. And mod, not easy to get from farm.
Y'know I'd love to send some overclocks for this... but we are running this event in winter and its dark 2 hours before I'm even off work.................................

Also this is partially Cali's fault for mucking up the whole West coast not removing DST.
Why put an event on like this over Christmas and in the run up to Christmas, could of waited until January

Any chance the list of supported devices for portal scanning can be updated then? My old Pixel 3 and 6 handsets worked perfectly, and now that I've upgraded to a Pixel 8 Pro this option just isn't available. Surely the setting can be updated to enable any Pixel handset?
Overclocking works fine, but I'm now relying on other people to do the scanning... 😑
Woah, that makes 1667 portals an agent needs if they go only for the capture/mod route. Even if I want to Overclock… there’s no much to overclock here. Also, RIP inventories from overclocking agents… but I guess that’s what Niantic wants, after all.
56 portals per day, yeah, that’s a handful…
I’ve yet to actually complete an overclock hack, though, I gave up after trying a few when it was first released because it was so difficult and I had like 6 seconds to do three glyphs. Felt impossible. Either learn it or get to capturing a TON of portals!

Has anyone ever completed a 5-glyph overclock correctly in the standard 19 seconds available? Are we at least getting a time extension for this event?
agree, could have started jan 6 after holidays better imo. still poor choice since many cant even scan or overclock last months they broke somehting smh
The time was recently extended from 17 seconds for a 5-glyph sequence to 25 seconds, happened at around the same time the Overclock Glyph points stat was added. With that, I can comfortably and correctly do an Overclock with about a 40%-50% speed bonus.
just don't try to position yourself around the cube. There's channels with pictures of what the glyphs look like - if you do it that way you should be able to. I just can't try it out, no L8 portals (or 8 people to create them) haha.
hahahaha :(My respects to you, sir. There aren't a whole lot of Overclock portals near where I go, but I don't think I've ever completed a 4-glyph one. It takes too long to walk around the cube.
Honestly, it is just practice. At some point I just remembered that that weird mess of lines is supposed to show "End" so I don't walk around the cube as much as I used to.
But for starters, you really are thrown into the deep end and are told "figure it out" lol
Overclocking is currently a terrible game mechanic that doesn't even work on most portals. This seems to be yet another move to get more players to engage in a part of the game that is both dysfunctional and not fun. I will by trying but.... this is going to be miserable.
I find Overclock to be a fun mechanic, and should be phased in as MFLA,
However due to the shear number of people with incomparable devices, the number of wayspots that can be VPS activated is very low.
If I am to get to 5k, I cannot be spending 10 minutes scanning each wayspots, uploading them when I get home, waste a further few hours waiting for the wayspots to be VPS activated, only to find out later that Pogo players did garbage scans, and the activation fails, not going to waste that much data on scans.
Daylight Saving Time is dead on arrival in my market. 8:30-9:00;am sunrise makes the civilians unhappy, never mind the boss. Northern California has no reason for supporting all time DST. Everyone north of Monterey LOSES in an all DST environment.
Use my comment as a "Welp, can't do portal scans so stuck with 5000 captures/mod deploys in the busiest month of the Year" - button.

There has been an update to the scoring for it.
... an update to the irrelevant (for me, of course 🙃) part, i.e. overclock.
The hidden challenge of actually finding a portal that can be overclock hacked since intel doesn't have any indicators.
Also getting a portal to that state is quite arbitrary and reliant on an app that is still in beta.
My logical issue so far is scans should be part of this because it makes overclocking possible. At least some number (maybe 7 or 13 points maximum, 1 point per scan) for each portal if you want to curb abuse.
I'm still not liking how fragmented this overclock thing is to Ingress.
Called waste gas driving around to get to all of those portals event. Maybe they could change the logo to some smog instead of those wonky layer like thingies? Since it's not really like we are throwing square fields or such
I can't participate in this one, my device doesn't support it. But that's ok. It's not something that I am even interested in. Scanning portals feels like a job. Not an event.
