The recent influx of Pokestops in India
Niantic has added various POI on their own using real world data into their games in India multiple times. Recently, it was the biggest such update in India with millions of new stops and gyms being created in India.
The only difference this time was they forgot the game that provided the base for pokestops and gyms: Ingress.
Not only the ingress community can greatly benefit from addition of new portals but it will encourage new players to join in that hesitate because of low portal density in India. The game will only benefit from addition of new portals. It will become bigger and better for everyone and their will be more acitivty and more players playing which will only provide more revenue. So, it makes no sense not to include the new POIs in Ingress.
Comments
There is a known bug that can sometimes occur with new PokeStops not importing into ingress. If you upvote/thumbs up the stop in PoGo it might show up in Ingress a day or so later.
If that doesn't work, unfortunately there is a caveat with the Lightship platform that each game can 'decide' what waypoints are added to the map.
The team didn't forget Ingress for this import, but they explicitly decided against importing the Wayspots as portals. Unless they change their minds, the import won't happen.
So, they can't split the databases so Ingress doesn't get cruddy junk POI's, except for when they suddenly feel like it?
They did not forget. This was intentionally not synced to Ingress.
While all Wayspots will be added to our Niantic map, it is still left to each game's inclusion rules to determine which Wayspots will make it into their games. Please be advised that these new Wayspots will not be present on the Ingress map.
It is up to the Ingress team to decide whether to take these in based on that and they’ve said no, it seems.
You may remember how the reaction was from the Ingress community for the last 4sq import so I guess they took that on board.
Please note as well, even if you nominate something in India that was added as part of this import, it will be marked correctly as a Duplicate and still not be added to Ingress (as far as we know).
Thia’s comments from last time.
and then following up with the topic here too.
