Google Pixel 8 Pro - not in Niantic approved list for portal scans

Newly purchased Google Pixel 8 Pro does not appear in the approved list for portal scans. It has ARCore but unable to scan.
Are there plans to include the latest Pixels in the approved list for scanning?
Thank you

This is a known from 2.123.2 issue that scan is broken
All we can is - ask Nia about clarification. @NianticBrian could U please test that thing on mentioned Pixel 8 Pro?
Any new phones have to be whitelisted for the "Niantic AR" library. Yes, I know it shouldn't be that way especially for a 12 GB RAM phone but it took a while for them to whitelist Pixel 6a when I first got it.
I have gone around from pillar to post with various Google support groups regarding certification for the Google Pixel 8 range, and still no one from Google can give me a straight answer on certification. I was promised a reply from another team, but it's all gone quiet.
Therefore I cannot use my Pixel 8 Pro for Ingress portal scanning and cannot trade in my Pixel 7 Pro, so my Pixel 8 Pro sits unused.
Since you made this post, Niantic has updated the requirements that phones need to meet to scan. They now need a specific GPU to be able to scan, and both the Pixel 8 Pro (Mali-G715) and the Pixel 7 Pro (Mali-G710) do not meet that requirement (because funny enough, they seem to be too new):
So while it sucks that you cannot scan with relatively new flagship phones, Niantic does not consider it a bug.
I note that Google has now approved the Pixel 8 range for ARCore - See the updated Google entries at the official developers site here - https://developers.google.com/ar/devices#google_play
Do we now wait for Niantic to update Ingress, what happens now?
Issue with my Pixel 7 Pro. Reinstalled and made sure All permissions set. Option yo6 scan is gone
Niantic needs to support the GPU of the Pixel 8 which probably has to be added manually, so yeah, atm all you can do is wait until Niantic adds support (if they do it at all).
This is because the Pixel 7 Pro does not meet the requirements for scanning anymore as the GPU of it is unsupported since the newest scanning update. While it sucks, it is not a bug.
Wait? So i wont be able to scan?
not at the moment until niantic adds it as supported phone to their database.
I have a phone with supported gpu and missing scan button so not sure what do about that
Probably is a Mediatek chipset not a snapdragon, Kirin or Exynos from that list.
thats the cpu, if u have mali gpu scanning according to list should work
Dear me, how long does it take Niantic to approve the Google Pixel 8 series for Ingress portals scanning? Google have approved the devices for ARCcore guys, what gives??
Since Pixel 6, Google has been using their custom Tensor SoC which shouldn't be an issue for Niantic but argh.
This should not be a particular problem for Niantic and will be updated in the future.
One complaint, however, is that the SoC, GPU, and OS version issues in Android have been around for a long time, and Niantic would do well to explain them in more detail.
In fact, it's the same reason why so many people this spring asked, "Why can't I install Peridot?"
this appears not to have been addressed yet, am i correct? funny there's an event going on that requires scanning and the flagship phone from Google isnt allowed to scan or overclock...
To say this is a disappointment at this point and after alllll that we've contributed to...well, the entire game almost solely to create the content by submit the portals that we now can't even scan, by amazing quality GOOGLE phones on a GOOGLE based game who's strive is to be the leader in the AI revolution of AR/AI technology is mind blowing to me. But what do I know....
I have same issue .
. Sad sad sad
Now January 2024, and still Niantic have not approved the new Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro for portal scanning, what do we do? I've wasted a lot of money on my Pixel 8 Pro which cannot scan. Do Niantic no longer speak to Google??
Very disappointing and stupid that we can calibrate an OC portal but can't scan with a 8pro 😵💫
scanning is more advanced thats why
I would like to take this opportunity to ask a question, but I have another question about portal scanning.
It does the same thing as PokéStop scan, but there are very few smartphones that support portal scan.
Basically, the portal scan in Ingress and the PokéStop scan in PGO should be doing the same thing.
And smartphones that are capable of scanning must basically be compatible with Google's AR Core.
The actual PokéStop scan-enabled devices are linked to Google's website. And the list shows that many entry-level Android smartphones are also compatible.
However, on the other hand, when we look at the list of devices that support portal scan, only representative models are listed, but when we look at the GPU and SoC, we find that only very high-performance models are supported.
My initial impression is that it is only as compatible as Peridot.

Therefore, it seems like it would be better to expand, but are there any plans to do so?
Ironically, all iPhones starting with iPhone 8 and iOS 14+ are supporting that feature. Is it a hidden Apple advertisement (iPhone 8 is already outdated now)?
still waiting
As of today, scanning is finally supported on the Pixel 8 pro!
Thanks NIA soon(tm) 😉
Confirmed that Pixel 8 (not Pro) also has the scan button back. Time to catch back up on my submissions...
If you have a subscription and have scan capability missing, please drop off subscription because is an action from Niantic.
I can AR scan portals inside pokémon go, but not in Ingress! When portal scanning will be supported with Poco F5 smartphone series. Most of them use adreno 725 which supports AR with OpenGL 3.2
Has anyone else lost scanning and overclock functionality on their 8 Pro? I just noticed it's gone on 2.136.1
