Broken ingress account
So, towards the end of the double AP event I requested assistance on getting an apex replaced because of a glitch pulling a second one out of my inventory and giving me the time for one. Fast forward to the issue "being resolved."
August 15th, I get a DM from a friend and asks if I deleted my account. I said no and went to log in. I see a message about my item being returned, then the app force closed. Put in the credentials in the sign I'm process, then a screen popped up about agreeing to the terms and conditions. I read them and agreed, clicked on, then an error screen. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same pop ups happened. I reached out to a few other agents and they asked if my account was terminated, I said I didn't request it. So I put in as many things as I could to try and figure out what happened. Was I banned without notice? And for what? I don't spoof, don't bot, etc. Did Ingress terminate my account? If so, why? I was and had a core subscription active and nearing the next month's payment.
So, after all that and no immediate answer I waited. All things I had done: resos, mods, links all had been removed from the game, and wasn't able to be pinged. Me also knowing I was the only fighting to keep links up so Machina couldn't cross certain areas, knew everything was in serious and quick trouble.
The responses start coming in like, do you remember your name? Your sign in info? Etc. Yes. Can you reproduce this bug? Yes, every time. After those waves of responses over the first day or so, everything gets escalated to research/care teams, etc. So they can figure out what happened. Several more days go by with no answers, no successful log in, nothing. The day of my subscription renewal is here, no account to use. So I cancel. A couple more days of silence, I said whatever you've done is probably irreversible to fix at this point.
(8/26) I get an email saying my account is back up, and am excited to see if everything has been returned to what it was.
What I get (see attached images of gear and level). All resos and links not restored, my lockers emptied and gone, my capsules all missing including the items inside them, all my gear, my AP is in the negatives, my level is incorrect. Oh, but I now have 2000 bursters.... What did they do?
Update: a few days later my account gets "fixed" one empty key locker is added, a few caps and k caps are present, but also empty, I still have 2000 bursters, my level and AP have been fixed.
Still no answer as to what they did, still no full recovery of my account, still no restoration of resos, mods, and links before this happened. I feel like this isn't "fair" or "fun" experience violating their own model. I refuse to do anything in game until this is resolved, and also feel I should be compensated for this monumental **** up. Am I wrong?

Please tell me there are actual backups of player data, including inventories. And if this is the best that can be done for a player to compensate for six years of play who was a CORE subscriber until this month (since he did not have an account on his anniversary) and spent RL money for CMU then we are all just one glitch away from losing everything. I would really like to see how this plays out, and if nothing further can be done on a data level (ie recovery of inventory, especially keys and VR items, and restoring streaks) then I would think either 6-12 months of free CORE or 50-100k CMU would be in order if there was a real desire to make things right. I can't see where portals and links could be restored, which in his case really reeks as he had cordoned an area off from Machina and was running a nice baseline + 23 portal spine AP generator the last few weeks he was able to play in an effort to grind 16 again. He will need those 2k booms to clear out the amount of Machina that has infested his play area.
And please tell me there are actual backups of player data....
Not likely. probably some flat database backups but the cost to restore an entire database to a test environment and then pull the info on a single user, then mimic it in game would be cost prohibitive to the game existing.
also this seriously looks like some sort of retired agent account where they were doing nothing but duping XMP8 in quantums, which were unloaded when quantums were removed, converted to kcaps, and items put direct into inventories.
With a full account of 2k XMP8, really has the hallmarks of a backpack, to be honest.
If you're going to chime in, please read the whole post. The point is this is NOT what his account looked like when it was deleted. This is what the Frankenstein account that was set up to replace his account currently looks like.
@FinalBoss10 unfortunately restores of portals, links etc is not that easy. If there were any portals / links in remote places that need to be restored, please contact me on Telegram (same username) and I'll try to assist you with that.
@Azhreia The links and portals were not remote at all. Just blatant hypocrisy that if a spoofer removed it, Nia would put most everything back as close as possible. But since Nia took it down, I'm the one who's hosed.
Sounds nice, but how often do backpack accounts place in the top 20 in the Ingress worldwide competition?
I rarely have bursters. The only times I killed any portals was when I had about 150 in level 6 and level 7 bursters and would go take down Luvnola's couch portal field star. Using level 5s to clear machina.
Most of the field engine I had up were less than level 5 portals. And most of the high level portals around the area I visit maybe once a month.

Anywho, I had multiple lockers full of keys, several hundred very hard to get to portals, several hundred in caps for the field engine, 50+ of almost all VR mods, and hundreds of resos, because I was prepping to rebuild a decay engine that day. Oh and hundreds of cubes because I'm a slacker.
Those were the images of the initial return of my account after days of silence about what happened. Here was the "it's fixed"
The level and AP were fixed, one empty locker returned, several apex and frackers back in my account, and 7 caps all empty.
But where does the bursters come from? 😅 is it possible they have mixed you up with another account and gave you his things instead? 😵💫
That is incorrect. Portal restores for spoofer damage is only done if locals cannot recover the portal(s) themselves.
Again read the post. I didn't put them there, Ingress did.
So Nia/ingress can take down anything they want, when they want, and not responsible for restoring things they mess up.
They took my account down, all resos, links and mods down, removed all my gear and premium items, and as a thanks for all of it, I get 2000 bursters. That's worse than a dumpster fire.
And on top of that I was guarding a university from the virus, several portals I'll probably not be able to get to, not other players. Because no agent has been on that premises for years.
I'm referring to portal restores. I offered help in restoring any portals that you or others may not be able to restore. That process is the same as requesting a restore after a spoofer interacted with portals that locals will not be able to revert.
I can't comment on your account restoration as I'm not privy to what happened nor the effort involved in restoring that.
Real question is instead of arguing with the Vanguard who offered to look into your account if you messaged them on Telegram, did you actually do it?
All portals I personally interacted with, and had resos, links, mods, I can get to. That's what makes me more mad. It was a lot of stuff removed for still no reason, and cannot/will not put back.
I already answered publicly, because the DM request was for hard to get to portals. Of which none of the portals were. All of it accessible, just dozens if not hundreds of portals and link wiped clean off the map.
The only "portal restores" that could be possible because of inaccessibility would be the portals taken over by Machina, that wouldn't have had access because of my links. But I highly doubt again Ingress/Niantic would do anything to fix that either.
Why comment when you don't know? An account has an item database and purchases you have made to the store. This is a weird situation where it makes me wonder if they tried to mess with the common kinetic capsule.
Portal history should all still be there. That's probably the bigger issue to worry about.
This is the hardest part with support because it fits into unique situations that involve the database.

No new updates or communication from Ingress/Niantic about this issue. Seems like I'll be in ingress purgatory til who knows when. I've missed multiple Tuesdays, 1 first Saturday and one second Sunday so far. I guess this will be the new game.
Well it's now been a month since this fiasco began and no new updates since the "restoration."
Take note community, they can do this to you too without warning or explanation.
And no, my account is still the same 2000 bursters, all keys gone, all VR gear gone.
You're in that unique scenario of a complex issue. Can you contact support with the ticket number?
I have several ticket numbers. They've all "escalated the issue" to whatever that means. Is there an actual place one can check the status of a ticket?

Should I go play and recover the account on my own? I'll need a boat. And a vehicle. And somehow figure out how to get access to Windward Waypoint in Cuba.
What is it exactly you want them to fix ?
