[2.123.1] Portals on the ground cannot be scanned (rejected by quality check)

Update 2.123.1 introduced the newest Lightship ARDK which comes with a quality check for scans before they are uploaded. Generally I support that, but it seems like it's not tuned perfectly yet.

Portals that are on the or embedded in the ground seem the most affected as the quality check believes the scan is just a lazy "I'll point my phone towards the ground while I walk" scan, even though the scan attempt is genuine (example in video above).

If possible, some tweaks to the quality check would be great, otherwise a lot of portals wont be able to get scanned anymore.

(Fair is fair, it might be that the check detects the feet in the scan and automatically rejects it, the scanner still says that it cant detect the target though)

How small is too small for ground objects?

This is the question for such wayspots.

Tiny 5cm diameter surver marker pucks IMO should still be rejected

    It's not that tiny. It's 75x75cm...

  • flat or far away objects - stay and move cam left - right.

    3d objects - walk around.

today flat object scan (mosaic on ground) - approved.

    don't show boots on scan.

@Robert4444 - I'm not trying to learn how to scan a flat object, I'm trying to report a bug. But nevertheless, here you go. Another two samples. Are they passing your quality checks now? NIA ones - definitely not.

  • When you're mapping an area, the general idea is to think about how these "islands" of Portal Scans around a Portal will connect back to their surrounding areas so that they can be mapped onto their locations. We're taking our 2D map of the Portal Network and trying to build our 3D map on top of it, aligning and mapping Portal Scans onto the real world locations. So showing more context makes it easier to align the "islands" onto the map, which can help improve Portal Scan quality.

    Try it more like this:

Also avoid having feet in the scan.

I have done a number of scans yesterday of plaques in the ground, and they all were acceptable.
