Alternative 1:
Earn for example 10 000 XP between 6-7 PM 2sDay to get one count towards a new 2sDay Medal.
Example Medal requirements:
Bronze - 13 points (doable in 3 months)
Silver - 26 points (doable in 6 months)
Gold - 52 points (doable in one year)
Platinum - 104 points (doable in two years)
Onyx - 208 points (doable in in four years)
Alternative 2:
Earn XP between 6-7 PM 2sDay
Example Medal requirements:
Bronze - 500 000 XP
Silver - 1 000 000 XP
Gold - 2 000 000 XP
Platinum - 4 000 000 XP
Onyx - 10 000 000 XP
Alternative 1 may be more balanced as somebody may get the Onyx very fast with Alternative 2, see:
For players who do not like a new Medal it should be reasonable easy to not play one hour between 6-7 PM 2sDay.

No. Just no
It's a one hour event.
I hate when Niantic makes a tiered badge for a new event/item because the expectations are never real.
The tiered badges they did for events around 2018 are horrible - NL 1331, Intel Ops, GORUCK Urban and Stealth (these might actually be ok because it's not Niantic) , and OPR. There have been barely enough events to justify the tiers after 5 years.
The ones for IFS and Second Sunday are perhaps just as bad. The only thing that saved IFS was covid and virtual meetings - I know people have been burnt out trying for 3 years of events every month.
Tiered badge would only work, if you could pick the hour of double AP. And do we really need another badge for this? Seems like it might be better to make a badge based on something else other than agent gained xx AP during a certain hour of a certain day.
Anybody who thinks this is a good idea really needs to get a life outside Ingress.
Look, I love badges and would happily take as many as I can. I don’t think this needs one.
medal that have artificial grind block by only been doable once each week / month are boring
On the bright side, if there was one, you wouldn't miss out that much if you missed a week vs missing a month like for the other silly tiered badgers
I'm firmly in the 'this doesn't rank a medal' camp. Every subset of game mechanics does not need its own medal.
No more medals ****...
