You may want to consider the implications for Ingress and Campfire.
In Ingress you can see all the portals on the Intelmap.
If you do that, does it mean anything special in Ingress if you simply view the portals in Campfire?
Not at all.
This is my guess, but its main role would be to display community groups, First Saturday, Second Sunday, which will be modified in July, and the location and window for Anomaly, Mission Day, etc.
For example, on First Saturday, participants will meet at a specific portal and hack to prove their participation.
Also, agents who have not previously joined the community can take the process of joining the community through Campfire.
This would serve as a first entry point.
Any updates on this bug?
To bump this, the Pokémon GO map now shows Routes on Campfire.
