What's the limit of L8 resos on a portal by a single player?

I've just gotten back into Ingress after a ~7 year hiatus, and lots has changed. I had to start a new account because my old was lost, so I'm slowly trying to grind my way up again. In my area there's a player that has at least one portal where they have stacked the portal with all L8 resos. All the material I can find on this (though most of it is at least a few years old) says one player can have 1-2 L8 resos on a portal, but I haven't found anywhere that confirms one player can put down 8...

    The current limit is one L8. What you are seeing can happen through the use of ADA & Jarvis viruses. They are used to change the faction of a portal and whoever does it ends up owning all the resonators. Two people working together can repeatedly flip and bump a portal and raise it to L8 but this is far easier with more than 2. There are a lot of permutations with the use of viruses, you may run across portals with all resonators owned by ADA or Jarvis as well. Be aware there is also a cool down period of an hour between use of viruses if you start experimenting with them.
