Rare Battle Beacon packages in the store

The requirement to get the Kureze Effect medal is to interact with 10 battle beacons during any of the Kureze Effect phases. Currently, the only RBB option in the store is an 8-pack for 16,000 CMU. Granted, Niantic has given out free RBB twice so far: 2 free RBB when they first came out, and 3 free RBB during this current phase which seem to be attributed to the mixup over Daylight Savings Time.

Unless Niantic plans to give out free RBB for every upcoming anomaly series, the 8-pack is a bit of an awkward fit for these events. Without free RBB or help from other agents, an agent could buy an 8-pack, deploy them, and assuming they get credit for all 8, still be 2 short of qualifying for the medal. Their only options here are to buy another 8-pack, or pay an inflated price for the Very Rare Battle Beacon.

It is ludicrous to have to buy 8 more if you are only 1-2 short of the medal. To remedy this Niantic could change the 8-pack into a 10-pack so only one purchase is necessary, and/or they can offer smaller packages such as selling them individually or in packs of 2.

Dude, this how capitalism works. They package merchandise in the wrong amount so you've always got too little or too much, and that keeps you buying extra.

You have to buy 16 battle beacons to play a solo anomaly. Great, now you've got 6 extra beacons you might actually use when you're not rushing for a medal, discover you enjoy them, and become a regular customer. Or, you refuse to use them, only buying another pack for the next anomaly, and the anomaly after that, and the anomaly after that, and... it evens out after a year?

1st anomaly of the year: Buy 16, use 10, have 6 left over.

2nd anomaly of the year: Start with 6, buy 8, use 10, have 4 left over.

3rd anomaly of the year: Start with 4, buy 8, use 10, have 2 left over.

4th anomaly of the year: Start with 2, buy 8, use 10, have 0 left over.

In other words, it's not that bad, bro. Assuming this is the anomaly format for the rest of 2022, all you need is the ability to plan long term and delay gratification, and you're buying 5 battle beacon packs to unlock 4 medals this year. You'll be fine.

Except for the fact that every other premium item that are sold in the store are available individually. Apex, frackers, beacons, fireworks, very rare battle beacons... all of these you can buy one-by-one, or in packages. Only the rare battle beacon is sold in a package and not individually.

Also, you make a lot of assumptions. I got the Kureze medal on-site in Phase 1 and finished with 150 Kureze points. I will be just fine, thanks. While helping another teammate get their medal during this phase, some of the BBs weren't awarding credit properly despite deploying resonators on the portal after the BB was deployed. This nearly put us in a position of having to buy another 8-pack, but thankfully our teammate got the 10th point on the last BB we had between three of us.

Also why would I want to carry around a half dozen RBB for months at a time clogging up my inventory? They are a useless item outside of this anomaly context. I play everyday and need that space for my regular gameplay.

So, update: I'm glad to see Niantic included 10 RBB in the Klue medal package. Ten certainly makes more sense for this event than eight. However, I would still like to press Niantic to add single RBBs to the store. How hard can that be? Make them 2,000 or 2,500 CMU each. If I buy 10 and mess one up or Niantic fails to count one, I shouldn't have to buy an 8-pack for 16,000 CMU to correct it.

(Just as a correction on my previous comment, it was pointed out to me that beacons and fireworks come in 3-packs rather than singles, however at 1,000-1,300 CMU these are still among the cheapest items in the store.)

So, in other words, you have a problem with there being more purchasing options? And with aligning the RBB options with the options they offer for other items? Do you just go ahead and buy the 25 pack of frackers when you only need 1 just for the sake of giving Niantic money? If you walk into a restaurant just wanting one sandwich and the restaurant says you have to buy 8, is that good business? I've spent plenty of money in their store, but I buy what I want or need, not excess just for Niantic's sake.
