The Dove of Peace /March 9, 2022/

On March 9, several Moscow Enlightened agents created a Field Art of a dove flying over the city and carrying the branch of peace in its beak.
Our goal was to show that, like everyone else, we are ordinary people fortunate enough to get to play Ingress. We don't want any blood, killing, and destruction. We oppose war in all of its aspects and want to believe that one day, light will return to our world once again.
We have no idea how hard and scary it is for the people in the war zone. We never stop worrying for our Ukrainian counterparts, their families and loved ones, all civilians, and the people forced to fight. Our dove is a humble attempt to affirm that our feelings are genuine—it's not just words in chatrooms or on online forums.
We can't influence the decisions of the powers that be, but we can use Ingress—the game that we all play—to prove how much we care. We don't know if our government might arrest or fine us for our actions or maybe see it for the message of peace it is. We don't know how the rest of the Ingress community might react to it. We know only one thing for sure: it's easy to plant seeds of hatred and resentment in human hearts, but banishing them is harder by far.

This just seems unwise, considering Russia outlawed anti-war protests.
Russia is already blocking Facebook and Twitter because they aren't censoring users. Did you want Ingress banned, also?

Friends, I'm sure that as soon as the war ends, they will immediately turn on your favorite game back. Therefore, it is in your own interests to stop hostilities in Ukraine as soon as possible. come out to peaceful protests, fight against the criminal government that leads you and this senseless war.
You must openly express your protest by going out into the street. Instead, you prefer to draw pictures of the virtual world that none of your officials will see.

Peaceful protests don't work for authoritarian governments, see Belarus 2020. They need to be more decisive than just gathering and letting themselves be packed into police cars and jailed. Hopefully they understand this one day...
Ingress isn't banned in Russia.
Russia is banned in Ingress.

I think this is a deplorable move by Niantic. They are punishing Russian civilians, not the Russian government.
I don't think Putin plays Ingress. Please note most Russians don't support their government. In fact they are held hostage by their government.
What with all the streaks? Sojourner, longest portal standing, ....
The least Niantic can do is to restore the streaks after the war. The best they can do is restore Ingress immediately.

This has nothing to do with you being Russian, you did not listen to two warnings in quick succession.
