The recent addition of Portal History and the Layers button to the Scanner app appears to have triggered a flash event. For 1 week, from Friday, Feb 19 1700 UTC to Friday, Feb 26 1700 UTC, our Researchers have confirmed the following:
- 2X AP for 1st and 8th Resonator deploy
- 2X AP for Links created
- Deploy up to 4 Mods per Portal
- Reduced Kinetic Capsule Program distance to 4km for newly run Programs
- Drone cooldown time reduced to 15 minutes
Use Portal History on Intel Map to identify unique Portals, then use the Layers button in the Scanner app to confirm what Portals to capture.
Remember: 2X AP for 1st and 8th Resonator deploys and Links created can be further boosted by enabling an Apex.
Take advantage of the reduced Kinetic Capsule Program distance for newly run Programs with the Link Bundle, available for the duration of this flash event.

- 15 Rare Link Amp
- 10 Common Heat Sink
This flash event will not have a unique Medal or Agent Stat added to the Scanner.
As always, please remember to be aware of your surroundings. We encourage players to follow local health and safety guidelines when playing Ingress (such as wearing masks and maintaining at least 2m distance from other people).

Earnable event medals (or global challenge medals) will be on hold for quite some time because of COVID. Let us enjoy these small events in the meanwhile.

Not particularly a fan of the bundle since I struggle to use the SBUL's and CHS I already get, but otherwise good to see more events.
Hopefully they push medals for this events 😊

Woot! Another event! Will be awesome to sometimes earn badges for little events like this once covid is over. But not too many, don't want this to turn into a fomo game.
For future events, personal metrics and factions metrics and a winner faction ALWAYS incentive agents to play more and put fun for the events.
Ingress is a faction vs faction game and we always want to see competition!

Yay for more events. But for clarification, @NianticBrian does double AP for deploying the 1st and 8th resonator, does that mean the first resonator is 750 ( 2x125 + 500) or 1250 (2x(125+500))? And similarly 500 or 750 for the last?

Make the 2500cmu medal parts of events. Those who can go out and play can earn them and those stuck at home can buy them.
I can't afford medals and it's sad to see paid medals frequently and no medals from events.
A choice to earn the 2500cmu medals would be nice. It's better than current paywalling since there is no way to make free cmu.
It's great that events like this are coming, players are advised to take proper precautions and respect the protocols of your city, and enjoy as much as you can this mini event that despite not having a medal, will help you continue climbing. Thanks Nia
It could also be 1250 (125 + 2x500). Bonus of first and last doubled.

With the "free" 2x 7000 core cmu i would be more than happy with some event medals in the shop (let the cmu roll 😁). But medals or not, this event is going to be fun. Also, the duration of it is just about perfect (not to long and also not just 1 weekend only)
Free medals as in challenges good. Free medals as in just claim it for nothing....What's the point? I for one don't want a medal that means absolutely nothing.
It's kind of how it's awkward that every time I got a Misty medal, she was never around, and every time I met her, I got no medal. Medals should commemorate something special and memorable in the game. Part of the reason I love mission medals and murals so much.
Too late. Medal fomo has been a thing for years. Especially with the whole everyone who is Resistance gets the Osiris medal for handing over the Osiris stone to Nemisis.
