Update on Wayfarer Upgrade Delays

Hi folks,
Firstly, let me apologize on behalf of my team. Trust that your feedback regarding the status of Wayfarer upgrades hasn't been for nothing, I've been personally surfacing these reports and working to determine what is going on. That this information didn't make it to you is my fault and I'm sorry.
The TLDR is that there were two issues that we discovered that were, in fact, blocking a significant number of Upgrades from being processed. These have been addressed and the backlog of Upgrades is being processed as we speak.
One of the issues was related to nominations that were tagged for bad words. Approximately 6k were in this pool and all but 100 have been reviewed now.
Secondly, some points of interested were tagged for OPR abuse, preventing them from being processed. We are still going through this backlog and should be done by early next week.
In addition to this, we're working on an internal system whereby we can better monitor issues like this when they come up and make real-time changes to address the issues.
Many of you have been waiting a long time, and I really appreciate your patience. Again, my sincere apologies and I look forward to getting your Upgrades fully processed soon.

We hope this has been the solution. Compared to December, January was a turtle in terms of portal approvals.

Now I wonder how many nominations are getting erroneously flagged for bad words that may not actually be bad words.
Or how prevalent abuse of the abuse button is in Wayfarer for things that are also not abuse.

Unfortunately I am unable to assign my upgrades to any of my submissions since the account auto-merge problem, mentioned here in several posts, hasn't been resolved, yet been acknowledged appropiately.

@NianticCasey Any chance that we could get an update on this? I stopped reviewing despite having more than 60 unfinished submissions in queue - because I am unable to use my upgrades due to them being separated from my submissions. I contacted ingame support in PoGo and Ingress several times and they either ignore me or can't help.
Any updates on processing portal/waypoint edits? I still have yet to receive any responses for edit reports I've made over the last 2+ years. And since I've not gotten any responses, I cannot technically post any appeals forum. Or should I go ahead and start appealing these edits without a proper response?
Thanks for taking the time to give us an update. These issues have been arising for quite some time now. I think it would beneficial for everyone if you could say 'Too many reports at the moment, we're going to have a look at this. Bear with us' rather than the usual response we receive from which is 'everything is fine, just wait'.
No, that wouldn't give us the same results. This response is better. We actually have a reason why and we can see they looked at it as opposed to "Yeah. We'll take a look at that".
just to be sure, because my english is not the best.
does this mean the "limbo nominations" will finaly get an answer? for example normaly if i have an upgrade on my nominations it will tage 1-2 days to get fully reviewed, 3 of them are stuck in voting for about 3 month (with upgrade). will this 3 finaly get an aswer?

The Upgrades were in order and because someone submitted bad words / abusive portals it was blocking everyone else's portals from joining the queue?
Also curious, I have a few portals that are already In Voting but also say Upgrade Next or in one case already Accepted
Does this mean since Upgrade was never processed we can nominate a different upgrade?

@NianticCasey thank you for letting us know about the progress in investigating why nominations are moving so slowly. I am looking forward to seeing progress made in fixing the issues and concrete results being observed with nominations being accepted.
Yes, I would really like to see what types of nominations were correctly flagged as abuse and what types were incorrectly flagged just because the reviewers are tired of seeing poorly executed nominations.
Submitters are also tired of bad reviewers who are abusing the system with bogus 1 star rejections.
I joined this board for the first time solely to say THANK YOU ... it feels incredibly rare to get any information from you guys regarding possible bugs/issues in any system, and the large group of reviewers in my state have all banded together with info to try to figure out what was going on. It was, frankly, too obvious there's been a problem with the priority ordering of Wayfarer reviews, and finally some transparency feels great.
Giving another quick update on the status of this situation. Related to the nominations that were incorrectly flagged for bad words, the feature has been updated to flag/block during submission instead of accepting the submission and parking it for manual review.
In reviewing this situation, we found another issue! It seems as though notifications for Upgrades that had been rejected weren't being delivered, so even when they were being reviewed it appeared as if they were still waiting. This has been addressed and the notifications should have been sent out.

Maybe all my submissions stuck in voting for up to weeks will finally move now, it'd be great <_<
They weren't badworded though since I resubmitted some stuck ones with 1:1 the same text and they were accepted
So - I've got two nominations that have been out there since 2015, and haven't been processed. They've been upgraded and say "in voting" -- any chance they'll ever get processed?
Ok that's all great and thanks for resolving issues but this still hasnt fixed all the problems. I still have alot stuck in voting that are not on upgrade. I have seen many new portals added now that have gone though review and they was in just over a week so can you address this issue next as I wont be submitting or reviewing any more until the issue resolved.
i have 2 perfect candidates in my Submission Queue.
They are totally rural, there isnt even a portal somewhere in the area. still they dont move a bit out of queue, though they are upgraded. they were submitted at 30 November 2019.
i know that a friend who lives there also submitted those POI, and there the same thing happens - nothing.
Support is not doing anything. They keep saying "huuh we looked at it someday it and it is getting votes" - clearly it does not, as it is still in Queue.
5km away i did 10 submissions mid january - they were accepted 5 days later. with no upgrade.
Emphasis on "rural" uses s2 cells of size 8 or 9 ( I can't remember which and I'm at work on a break). I live near a decently populated city that keeps my rural suburb moving as slow as the city (like 9 months plus), but 5-10 miles east of me takes a week.
