Requiem Anomaly (Saturday, May 9th)

As we did with the Osiris Sequence finale events of Abaddon Prime, Niantic intends to host a cross-faction after-party with entertainment, refreshments, and exclusive experiences. When registration for the Munich event opens, you will be able to purchase a ticket (price to be determined) for the after-party if you wish to attend. We will be offering free onsite and offsite activation tickets for the Anomaly. A ticket will be required to participate in the Anomaly, have your actions scored, and earn the Anomaly medal. To attend the afterparty you will have to purchase an afterparty ticket. In addition, we will no longer require POCs for Hexathlon and Anomaly events going forward.

Taiwan Taichung !!!!🎉🎉🎉
Connected cells possible for Hexathlon events?
So Hexathlon, is that the same thing as the test event that was held in Colorado a couple months ago?

Buenos Aires🌟🥰🥰🥰🎉🎉🎉🎉💪💪💪💪
Can we expect a Mission Day the Sunday following an Hexathlon event?
Moscow ^_^
yay! Thank you for including our island in Canada :)
Why no POCs for anomalies? Seems like a great way to cut ties and communication with your player base.
Please tell me you ran this decision by your Vanguards beforehand...
Adelaide in Summer? Niantic, you're cooked!
Removal of POC and therefor any communication between players and NIA does not sound good.
buuu no hexa in sweden :((
Or stop doing anomalies altogether. c'mon... "Requiem"?
Hey @NianticOfficial, I have one ridiculous request for these events: Please remember to create official hashtags for your events (and use them on your social media).
With G+ gone, the community is spread across a bunch of social networks. Encouraging agents to use consistent hashtags will help everyone find event-related content on Instagram, Twitter, etc.
P.S. This applies the the current Umbra challenge, too.
So, @NianticBrian still no word on extra anomaly events/sites unrelated to Hexathlons?
No POCs? How will the playbox be decided? Niantic would not necessarily know the areas that should be excluded due to other events or activities. I will admit that i do not know all the details that they do, but i knoe that they know their locations.
Los Angeles screwed over again! 🙄
LOL good luck running your own anomalies with no POC support. Like you did such a great job even with POCs. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
@NianticOfficial how soon until we get more details on the events. Will we know the playbox ahead of time in order to plan for hotels? Or since we no longer have pocs, will you be planning hotels for out of town players?
Uh. Oh... This is going to be... Interesting...
Eh, ok. Might have to reconsider my plans for Munich. It's been a pretty consistent theme for as long as I've been attending them, that their success has been in spite of Niantic's involvement, not due to them.
After all the bitching before the Umbra anomalies, and especially the actions of the Dresden POCs, can you really blame them?? Seems like Niantic are trying the less hassle approach here.
Naah i think it's a jumping out of pan and into fire. The umbra "complaining" was feedback. Feedback is worth the hassle to engage with appropriately
Off site medals? Am I going to need a passport just to get close enough to recharge? Are the other ways to get the anomaly medal?
Passports take a while to process, Niantic. Can I get some better answers?
Yeah, maybe so. However, after all the rants about how POCs should be getting paid and the sudden surge in armchair lawyers pointing out the potential liabilities in non-free events, it's possible it was just less hassle for Niantic to do it all themselves. Maybe they'll go back in a later series*, and hopefully they will as the original intention of POCs was simply to assist with a suitable play area which is still a valuable asset.
* assuming you don't read too much into the name "Requiem" 😬
I am very curious to see what a no Point of Contact Hexathlon event looks like. They must have come up with some way to cut out the need for local agent advice.
I rather like the idea of Niantic not relying on volunteer support. However, cutting out an official method for communication all together for the site seems like they're asking for trouble.
Is this the writing on the tombstone?? I miss ingress. Bring it back please!
Bogor, yay
The Field Test in Redmond ran like this — individual competition rather than group competition. No POCs, no consultation on playbox other than perhaps initial submission.
Munich is a more interesting question.
Lets get it on
