Kinetic capsule notification obscures alerts

If the last alert I receive is a 'kinetic capsule ready', clicking on this takes me to the capsule carousel. As a result, there is no way to see if I have other (much more important) alerts from attacks.

Can you please upload screenshots of the issue.

    • Place your finger on the Action Ring and slide it right.
    • Alternatively, tap the Action Ring and select COMM.

    Working as intended.

That shows COMM, not Alerts, so now you have to go up and change the tab. That's three taps where previously one worked. It's a bit annoying TBH - the KC alert should stop being an extra portal to your inventory as soon as you empty the KC in question.

Yes, unlike general chat and attack notifications, there is a well-defined notion for, "this KC notification has been seen and dealt with": Retrieving the item from the KC. Once that's happened, there's no reason to keep showing the notification on the main screen in the lower right.

There's actually a well defined notion already.

    "Show the last notification".

If your method was employed, it would show the last notification of any type, then return to either blank or show COMM activity instead of notification. Your method only applying to KC's would actively break the straightforward single activity loop that is currently in place.

Also pointing out that initially the KC notification went to Alerts and didn't open the Inventory, and players complained and had it changed.

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

The purpose of the notification in the lower right corner of the main screen is to point out something that I might be interested in dealing with or remembering has happened. If I've already retrieved the item from a Kinetic Capsule, I've already dealt with it, and there is no real purpose in reminding me that I've completed that capsule.

In any other notification system, I'd expect the KC notification to go away once I've retrieved the item from it, and I'd expect the system itself to have some method of indicating, "I don't want to see this particular notification anymore" for all of the notifications that it might show.

  • Right, but what would you expect to happen after you clicked on an attack alert? For it to disappear too? After you've seen the attack there's no real purpose in reminding you that it was attacked either. If that's the case, do you remove all attack alerts, or do you have to tap away each one after the other. If you don't complete the capsule after tapping the notification does it remain? What if you only claim 1 of the 7 completed capsules?

Yet all software is designed for consistency instead of confusion. Simplicity and straightforwardness usually come from predictable and expected behavior. Making up 'new expectations' because of some desire to customize everything does not make simple software.

The screen shows the last notification. Whatever that happens to be. If it's the KC notification, it remains until there's a new notification. It's simple and straightforward, and as mentioned above, there are multiple ways to open COMM if you want to look at older notifications including previous KCs.
