Agents, look forward to a weekend long bonuses to celebrate 8/8 Level 8 Day! From Friday, August 6th 4PM UTC to Monday, August 9th 4PM UTC, the following will be enabled for the duration of this event:
- 2X AP on all actions
- 2X deploy L8 Resonators
- Drone cooldown reduced to 8 mins
- Each successful Glyph earns 88 AP
Agents with 1,200,000 AP and above will have exclusive access to purchase Level 8 Patch Medals on the Ingress Store. Faction Patch medals and the Level 8 Weekend Bundle are only available for the duration of this event!

Glad to see the original L8 patch designs return, those will be an instant purchase. 👀

Normally it is 50 AP per successful glyph. Do we get 176 AP during the event? Or do we actually get 12 AP less?

Just a minor feedback: I would really appreciate if the medal designs look more complex than simple. See what I did there? Jokes aside, I would appreciate a little complex design for medals than those that look like they were made using MS Paint.
(PS: Just learned that these medals are from 2013 patches. That explains why they look so... umm... Retro...)

Tossing the original L8 Patch on here for some context and swag appreciation. In terms of medal designs you can't get anymore Ingress than this. These were awarded very early on in Ingress by showing proof of L8 at Happy Hour meetups that predated NL1331.

Agreed, I'd have named them Retro Patches to at least hint at the fact that they're a throwback to Ingress' early days. That, or give the design a "sewn patch" texture effect to make it more akin to the physical swag.
Better fix the comm, and direct the community manager to conduct a dialogue with users.
To clearify 1'200'000 all time AP or current AP?
I did comment in TG chats that the badges looked like they had been designed in Paint. But they do make sense if it’s a call back to the older patches. Did they do any for the other levels as well?
Even from back then I hated the design.
Compare that to the original Recursion medal design.

Sad that some Agents can’t appreciate classic art work. I love the fact that a lot have cried for Redacted’s return and when given a badge from Redatacted’s time they cry how ugly it is! 😂
I’ll be getting both as I hit L8 as Enlightened first and then again with the Resistance. Question is will we see the L16 badge? 🤔

Yes! I've hit L8 as a member of both factions so may as well show some love.
I have just about no artistic talents. A few minutes in Photoshop gave me this. I didn't quite get the shade of red for the "8" correct though. Also not sure how it'll look in the scanner.
I have the CMU and honestly don't see a difference between buying both of these and having a Jarvis character badge as a res or an Ada badge as an enl. I look forward to more fun profile badges
Now I understood that those medal designs are coming from the actual LV8 patch which was provided previously, but still I think there is a room to improve that medal design.
I just don’t think they knew the story behind it is all…
